Otafest is an anime convention held every year in the city i live in. Basically every year i don't really pay attention to it, minding my own business playing starcraft. But this year, I was convinced by a friend to actually go to Otafest. I've never really went to anything like it before, I've went to Starcraft BW LANs but i guess they dont compare. I do watch a lot of anime but I'm hesitant to talk about it cause i would probably come off with an elitist, anti-mainstream attitude. I also usually brush it off saying that the people there only like mainstream anime and they don't know what its like to watch the real gems.So i usually refrain from talking about anime with people, but this year I kept my thoughts to myself and just went for the sake of anime and like other people. However I only had a week to contemplate whether or not to go, I didn't prepare a costume. I just went with my MBC hoodie (starcraft represent <3) and just hoped for the best.
Otafest is a 3-day event, spanning from Friday to Sunday. I only went Saturday from 9AM to 9PM. It was surprisingly tiring walking everywhere, talking to people, watching events, and taking pictures. I missed Friday at the time i was still contemplating whether or not I should go. It is now Saturday night, as much as I would like to go to Otafest tomorrow, the schedule + other factors are telling me not to go. However I felt like it was truly enjoyable and I think it was really really really worth it. Although it was only 1 day for me, my first Otafest was amazing and truly awesome.
I guess the moral of the story is to try new things cause it might not be what you expect it to be. I think i will start participating in Otafest every year from now. I would like to share pictures I snapped today. I took them on my phone so, sorry about the low quality. >.< + Show Spoiler [Otafest pics [NSFW?] + Oh and the chick on the left in the last picture is pretty fucking cute. Too bad its blurry. At least there will always be next year~!

I was actually under the impression that these sorts of conventions were all filled with elitist/non-mainstream things rather than the opposite! :D
Anyway, glad you had fun! :3 I've yet to go to an anime convention or that sort of thing, but perhaps I may in the faraway future~

Maybe, I only bought 1 thing, it was a shirt. It was pretty hilarious. + Show Spoiler +

Usually not a big fan of cosplay and conventions, but I went to fan expo last summer in Toronto and saw some awesome costumes and met some great people, even met Jared Cale from Pure Pwnage and we talked about SC2! your pictures are cool and it sounds like you had fun, that girl dressed as Lightning is pretty cute!

Who wants to go tomorrow and meet up?

Some of those costumes are really cute. I am going to something similar this year with my girlfriend. Hopefully, assuming I have the moneys to do so. But it looks like a lot of fun.

Idk, i just feel really arrogant when im talking about anime, and what I think about it, etc etc.
