I've been thinking of getting an orange san francisco(zte blade) as a replacement for my current phone and was wondering what other alternatives I could get around the same price range?
I hear the ZTE blade(orange san francisco) is a cheap phone and thusly has a cheap build quality but it a lot of bang for buck.
So I'm wondering what do folk with Htc Wildfires or other similarly priced phones have to say 200USD and below or 150 quid-ish and other similar phones have to say about their phones.

You get what you pay for these days.
I have a ZTE Blade and its enough for me. I mean, texting, calling and stuff like that is... yeah, enough for me.
Its nothing compared to an iPhone or anything in that price range... obviously.

I hear the ZTE blade is pretty sturdy for what it is. Is that true? but messing about with the roms seems so enticing!

You can buy the last generation of iPhone for $50 in the US, not sure about UK. They kill you on the contract, but its like that for all smart phones.

How much do you have to spend? Old iphones are pretty cheap iirc.

My gf has a LG Optimus something. It came free with the contract and I think is around $100-$150 without one. It's pretty nice. I have a Galaxy S and compared to mine, hers just has a smaller and worse screen and a worse camera. All the functions are still pretty much the same.

Blade is pretty good once modded (a bit sluggish if not), the only thing that I don't like is that the battery lasts only about a day. Oh, and you cannot install Flash on it (it has a separate application for YouTube, so that works, but not much else). Video players are also unusable (very choppy even on small resolution videos), but I guess that's more of their problem as YouTube seems to work perfectly.

Meizu M9 from China. Very good specs, reliable and cheap. The screen is amazing.

Yeah, I heard good things about that one. Only it is more like $400?

200 USD or below gets you some pretty high powered phones.
Evo, any Samsung S phone, any droid, HTC thunderbolt.....actually the only thing 200 USD won't get you is an Iphone 4 which while a good phone is overpriced and doesn't have 4g capabilities. If you do get an Iphone you need to go with Verizon because At&T is shit.
I'd really suggest an Evo or a Samsung S phone...particularly Epic 4g. I play Legend of Dragoon on mine and with all the other crap it does it was more than worth the money when I got it for 250...it's down to 99 these days. The battery is garbage on all good Smart Phones but it's circumvented by this awesome thing called a car charger. If i'm not in a position to charge my phone, like being out or something, I'm not doing something on my phone that'll drain the power fast so I have it if I need it. Even the highest power smart phones last 12 hours plus if you aren't using them much.
This is of course assuming you get a new contract. I'd really suggest it because both Sprint and Verizon have been fairly awesome lately. You can't really go wrong with them.

I use an LG Optimus, cost 150 or 200 (without contract) I think. Pretty darn good, not as fast as the high-end smartphones obviously but I love it <3
I'm currently on Virgin Mobile's beyond-talk plan, which is unlimited messaging / unlimited data / 300 talk minutes for $25 a month... amazing.

I bought a HTC wildfire S for approximately 280 USD. I have yet to receive it so I don't know if it is any good but I read good things about it.
