But the joke is on you! Even though you made a new thread, you still look like someone who takes things way too seriously. This. I really really enjoyed NASL today. I had a good time watching some good SC2 games and the casters were hilarious. They know when to be serious, but honestly, a little joking around is what separates good casters from amazing casters

This is yet another: “X caster did Y and NOW E-SPORTS IS DOOMED thread.” I just don't get it. I really don't. You say that Gret and iNc making some (frankly hilarious) jokes is “unreal.” Personally what I find unreal is how many threads come out of the woodwork every time a caster does anything. Jesus, I feel for the casters. Gretorp & iNcontroL, keep pimping. I really enjoyed the cast tonight.

A caster's job is to be neutral and passionate about the potential of each player. Day9 does this well. He only calls a game as it's ending. Don't get angry that two new casters haven't mastered this yet. Who cares that they are good at playing the game--It's not the same as casting. E-sports is far from doomed and nothing about this post suggests that. I think that a sore attitude about quality and forced emotion is the cause of unhappiness from OP. As a non-internet troll and a personal IRL friend of Punic, I doubt most people here could be as dedicated to e-sports as him. Don't take it so hard guys, be open to criticism. Temp bans in defense of defamed, prior legends, and losing players? ...wow. Come on. Yes, the post-count defense was worthless, but that aside... this community used to be different. Don't make me miss the old days of top-notch expectations! Both sides of a game are worth respecting. This is Starcraft.

I watched the NASL for the first time tonight, and I did not like the casting. I hope you respect my opinion. Here's why- it was just a bit too unprofessional. The sarcasm continued on for too long. I wouldn't mind some sarcasm here or there, but not an entire cast during the series. So what to improve on? Just be a little bit more serious for EVERY series that is casted. Have SOME seriousness so that we are all happy and not just the TL community that enjoys watching a poor chap get owned 0 - 2 AND has casters spewing sarcastic remarks. Not everyone can be happy, but I feel like the NASL could have done better.

just saying though I agree that they went overboard, but for a different reason -- they were trying too hard. dunno if the majority in this thread saying how funny it was are such nerds that any joke/sarcasm from inc and gretorp is 'hilarious' but yeah... it was funny for a while then they kept going, and going, and going, and going... and it just got kinda dull/overdone.

Contrary to popular belief, a good caster isn't a robot. Theyre trying to add some humor to the cast lol. Some people take this idea of professionalism way too far. I'd rather have a caster be entertaining than strictly professional by the arbitrary standards of some guy in the LR thread.

Criticism has been taken roughly the last few months, and I feel like SOTG last night showed this perfectly. Almost and hour of defense from Gretorp when not legitimately provoked? JR being an unjust dick for suggesting that people were unhappy? Let's get real. Punic is asking you to assume you were the player being assumed to lose 2-0 when Starcraft and training is your life. It's okay to make a prediction, but a person shouldn't be a total joke. Assume you are them (as the OP suggests). A caster's job is to be neutral and passionate about the potential of each player. Don't make me miss the old days of top-notch expectations! Both sides of a game are worth respecting. This is Starcraft. If I was 2-0ed I'd have more things to worry about than a guy making sarcastic remarks that aren't even meant to be offensive or insulting. It's actually funny if you're not so horribly uptight. It's like you losing a game of starcraft and being frustrated, and your friend going "ahahhaha you suck call me for lessons". Yes I'm annoyed but hes obviously kidding and harmlessly poking fun. If I was an uptight douchebag I would tell him to fuck off....if I had the slightest sense of humor I wouldn't care. That and OP's tone was absolutely ridiculous, taking the biggest offense and making the biggest deal of something that could be sufficiently expressed in 1 line on a feedback thread. "Again, unreal." No, its not unreal

Spectator sports, such as SC2, are supposed to be entertaining, the great play by the players and the commentating by the commentators are two inter-related but different aspects of the entertainment. So if the commentators choose humor and good commentating over complete seriousness and good commentating that's their decision and in my opinion a good decision. Basically, if they didn't contribute something that spectators couldn't get out of just watching with sound off, such as their humor, it wouldn't be as appealing to spectators. So it's all good in my opinion.

Isn't there a line between seriousness and humor that should be observed? What if the GSL finals were done in this fashion, or lets take it to the extreme just to make my post have some value- what if the casters for the Finals of GSL decided to swear, drop f bombs every 5 seconds, make political, racist, sexist, "too-early" or "too-soon" jokes (HAHA JAPAN GOT OWNED BY AN EARTHQUAKE sort of nonsense), be sarcastic wherever possible, insert memes like there's no tomorrow, and do their best not to add any serious analytical commentary on the game. To you guys it will be funny, but will you still say it is acceptable?
