I pciked up Starcraft 2 last year, and after 200 odd games, I managed to scrape my way up to Platinum as Terren, using only bio. Due to Internet issues, I stopped playing last October, and haven't picked the game up since last week.
Well I decided to start playting again, this time relearning as zerg. Zerg is a significantly more difficult race to play at this game, and I currently have a gold league record of 1-15. None of my losses have even been close, and I really don't have a clue how to play as zerg. It's so difficult to know whether to build army or drones, and every game has me droning too much, getting trampled by a superior army, but still having less resources colected at the end of the game.
Well, current goal is to play another 25 games by the end of the week, hopefully pick up 5-10 wins, and maybe get relegated to silver tp give myself a chance.

Good luck

Keep at it and hopefully you will break the negative streak. I have a friend in a similar (but worse) situation. He left in high plat as a Terran and wanted to come back this season as a Zerg. So far he has just lost and it promoted him to Diamond :/ So at least you have Gold to work with
Not sure if I can really give any advice as I am a lowly http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/757039/1/MattyClutch/ but one thing I have noticed from low level Zerg is that lots of them seem content to just let me be forever. Maybe they will send mutas or a few lings at the start, but that is it. They let me sit back comfortably on 3-4 bases and get a 200/200 deathball and every upgrade known to man. Then I roll in and take out their main and while sure they tore up my army a bit and they still have 9000 bases, but I took out all their tech buildings. This leaves me free to just add back to my army and go around picking off the remaining bases, so I would say try to be agressive all game long and never let your opponent just sit back. Not sure if that helps, but it is how I feel I win most of my 'not even close' games vs Zerg.

to early to say you suck tbh. 200 games is nothing (less than nothing). thats how much i played in one week (when i started BW, for sc2 i dont have the time TT). just dont give up

I too suck at sc2! I can a crazy amount of it each week, but I only play maybe 1 or two ladder games a week,

Zerg has always been a situational race. The key behind becoming a successful Zerg player lies on possessing the ability to adapt to your surroundings and circumstances. This is because Zerg is a much faster race than either Terran or Protoss; they can move faster on land, power an army really, really fast and boom their economy at a speed that can't be paralleled by the aforementioned races. Additionally, most of this adaptation information comes from having a well-developed game sense which, more often than not, evolves due to experience obtained by mass gaming.
If Bruce Lee was still alive, he'd play Zerg.
EDIT: In other words, Zergs win games with drones and larva alone. The rest of the units just serve for stalling purposes and preventing any economy from going to your opponent.

Honestly at his level the key behind being a successful Zerg is having all your hatcheries on 1 hotkey and consistently spawning larva. You can basically be horrible at everything except basic mechanics and still smash your way to diamond. I'd recommend he simply focus on consistently injecting larva, scouting with his overlord, and gaining a sense of when to drone (basically whenever u can safely do so)

I'm impressed at the support, thank you very much .
I think the hardest part for me is that zerg is so reactive. Most of the builds I read are very short, and rely on scouting then reacting to what you se. I never got into this practice with terran, as I'd do a bio push, and if I didn't win or lose the game straight away after that, I'd have a fair idea where to go from there. I also had free scouting with scans.
I suck at multi tasking, and I'm not used to controling a scout or understanding what I do get to see. But I'll keep on, and we'll see how I feel by the end of the week. 25 games to go!

200 games is like one, two weeks if you play a lot.
EsX_Raptor, hey bro, terran is where it's at!!!

Even though Zerg is hard to play, it's fun. Just make sure you keep on spawning larvae so that you can rebuild your army that much quicker.

Zerg is only hard if you play with like an average APM below 75... because you cannot do everything as zerg player wants.
Terran is the real hard race if you don't do dumb cheesy all-ins when your average APM is like 100-150+

What?
Haha.
Haha Haha
hahahahahahaa
On topic : Just keep at it buddy. If you're on NA and want some help I can try to help you out some. Just pm me on tlnet. Zerg has a very different play style than the other two races, if your losses are from over droning it's good. Underdroning is much worse.

Best of luck to you!
Starcraft gets really frustrating sometimes, but remember that the point is to have fun... while improving of course : )

Learn the backspace larvae inject technique!
It will help you sooo much just a little tip i can give. i got it from somebody here on TL but i have no idea where the original post will be.
Put all your queens on one hotkey, select them press V hold right shift with your left thumb and hit backspace with your forefinger while left clicking with your mouse in the center of the screen.
Repeat until all your hatcheries are spewed! i hope that helps! i would give credit where it is due if i knew where.
Zerg is a difficult race, and from experience, talking to other players and friends, everyone has said the mechanics are so different they don't even know where to start. But honestly i think with practice zerg can be a very strong race, it just takes much more skill than the other races!*
*may not actually take more skill

If you really care, best of luck Zergy
