So I went into the doctor's today.
I was informed I would NEED ANOTHER SURGERY
If you would like some background (with a hint of rage) look at this previous blog
http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?id=211684
So after two back surgeries, both of which (IMO) did more harm than good I was called into the doctors office today.
Summary: i'll need another surgery
When they did the second surgery they debated fusing another potentially unstable area. Well, they didn't and it hasn't fused correctly. So they need to remove my posterior screws, and rewire a new rod that's no longer far away from my spine. And then they need to remove the anterior screws, and refuse that area.
it's a four month recovery. FML
In other news I'm starting starting strength.

I feel your pain, I'm scheduled for a 3rd surgery for a problem I've had for the past 5 years, which has been hindering my college... Surgeries aren't the type of thing you can give up on here, if you get a date you better take it and hope it doesn't get delayed... And both times they were scheduled mid semester, with a 2 month recovery.
Hope everything works out. Mine is more of a "personal" problem according to my doctor, where a bacteria or something prevents my wound from fully closing.
GL!

If I can give any advice to anyone that's considering back or knee surgery, it's FIND ANY OTHER WAY OF HELPING!!!!
I know a few people that have had both, and every time they have to go in for multiple surgeries, and end up having more problems than help.

:'< ugh
I hope you can get through this with positive news ;__;
How badly are you limited during the recovery period? Words just cannot describe this....

I feel your pain, kind of. I have hypothyroidism, and I had to go through 12 doctors before I found one who would even listen to me, and adjust my medication accordingly. While it didn't mean a four-month recovery (which REALLY sucks), it did mean years there where I couldn't remember what day of the week it was, and had other hormonal imbalance issues (first time "imbalance" has been used on TL in this sense, probably). I even moved to Dallas, and I still drive down to Houston every 6 months so that I can keep the same doctor. Best of luck to you.

Not that abdly limited, but in a break.

Sounds rough mate, hang in there. I had a 56 degree curve and had a back operation similar to the one you mentioned (rod + fusing).
Stock up on some good movies and get your friends to come round and just chat during recovery, it'll help pass the time.
Best wishes <3
