I think the issue is that these threads are for discussion and analysis of the matches, and discussion of the metagame by nature is part of that. There are a sizable fraction of sc2 followers -- including one semi-official post on TL previewing today's matches, lots of progamers (not just zergs) and many viewers -- who feel that zerg faces large difficulties against protoss in the current incarnation of sc2. It's very difficult to discuss a zvp match in that context without alluding to the metagame, since the metagame is an inherent part of any discussion of the matches. I'm all for discouraging unproductive "whining" -- of any sort, whether it's about the casters, the players, TL's network infrastructure, or whatever. But it seems quite artificial to permit statements like "fast double expand has a hard time against 4gate" "colossus/voidray has a hard time against mass viking" "mech has a hard time against brood lords" "fast expand is not so good on Steppes of War" while prohibiting statements like "zerg has a hard time against protoss because of XYZ". All of them are assertions about the metagame, and like any other assertion if they're presented in a reasonable way as part of a reasonable conversation about the metagame in the context of the matches in the LR thread it seems uncharacteristic to prohibit them.

Also the Boxer/Sen games were the best I've seen in a while. I can just see this guys point as well. If you are not invested into the players at all, or not already a fan, then I can understand why Hasu's play today could be seen as boring. After game 1 the only reason I continued to watch was because of the brackets. I wouldn't call it entertaining at least when compared with Hasu's previous games. The giant Protoss death ball just isn't fun to watch. Edit: Or maybe it was just that the most effing epic series in history played out right before theirs. Fair enough, and i see your point. I know fans want to see the best games possible. I do too. But i'm also a realist and understand that this isn't often the best way to play if you want to win. And if I personally were a pro gamer, the most important thing to me would be getting those wins which would improve my prestige and reputation a lot more than playing one entertaining series and then being out. And then there's the prize money which is essential to them and can dramatically change their immediate way of living short-term. Dreamhack spoiler incase somebody hasn't watched the games and they're out in VOD form. + Show Spoiler + I hated watching MC cheese White-Ra in the final game. It hurt seeing him go out in such a way and don't like seeing it. But there was a lot of money on the line and if he thought it was his best chance of winning that series. Then it doesn't matter what I think to him. He's gotta do what it takes to win.

No fans, no tournaments, no money. Just sayin. No, Hasu is playing to win and only to win. He does what he feels gives him the best chance to do so. If people find the strats and playstyles that give Protoss the best chance of winning to be boring then that's something you take up with the Sc2 design team.

Phoenixes are wonderfully fun to watch and also better value economy harassment than mutalisks by a long way, not to mention a much more stylish way of harassing. Honestly, I thought how much easier it is for Terran to hold larger amounts of bases than zerg, like in game 1 on Metalopolis is more worthy of tears, but that's another matter. Oh, I've been loving the TSL3 apart from more recent results though, the tournament and running of it has been fantastic, the only one worth the money the others are asking for. ♥

I don't have time to watch all the vods, so if your hope is to force me to watch all the games to find the good ones, you've only succeeded in making me watch none of them :S All Sen vs Boxer are recommended!

It's updated just the last game he messed up with bolding HasuObs' name. HasuObs won by the way. The Boxer/Sen series was amazing to watch, great games today.
