ggBet.net is entering beta and we need some beta testers from the Starcraft 2 community.
Whats is ggBet.net?
ggBet.net is a little project I have been working on for a few weeks. Its an eSportsbook specifically built for Starcraft 2. You can place bets on Starcraft 2 events and matches using our virtual currency. Just like any other sportsbook you can place both straight bets (single bets) and parlays (multiple combined bets).
All our odds are set in-house so you will see a wide range of events being covered. We will be starting off with the bigger events such as MLG, NASL, GSL and the TSL. As things progress we will be looking to set odds on as many events as we can.
ggBet is 100% free to play and has absolutely no means of depositing money. This means anyone and everyone can play.
We really want as much feedback as possible from the community. At the moment the feature set is pretty basic, but I'm ready to build it into something really exciting. I have alot of ideas, but I'm really keen to hear what you think of it now, and what you would like to see.
Feedback & Bugs: - Post in this topic. - Post via the feedback widget on ggbet.net - Email: support@ggbet.net - Twitter: ggBet.net Twitter - Facebook: ggBet.net Facebook
One feature I have created specifically for the teamliquid community is embeddable match graphics. These graphics can be posted in match topics on the forum and will automatically update as players place bets. That way you can see which players are being backed and on which maps in real time.

Could be cool, especially if we could get something with the virtual currency. Like a shop to buy real items or something =)

You should use a font more readable... like Helvetica.
|
cool idea, i hope it takes off!
what are the leftmost numbers for though?

I will change it now. I'm not much of a designer...

It's a cool idea, but you ask for a stupid amount of personal information for a fantasy betting site

what are the leftmost numbers for though? leftmost numbers are Moneyline / American odds. Its the odds format most used in America. The decimal odds are also shown.
On the website you can select your preferred odds format. We have decimal, american and fractional.

I run 1680x1050 resolution, the right bar is placed above the other content and looks odd, when I zoom in the page fixes itself, so you may want to look into the layout when in higher resolutions.
I also think the social networking box is massive, two small buttons (one for Twitter, one Facebook) should be fine, you can also place them under articles to promote certain articles not just the website as a whole.
Looks promising though, I haven't signed up yet so I cant talk about the betting, but I will do soon.

Looks good! I signed up, website layout is a bit wonky (running Firefox 4.0).

Most of the problems I have with this have already been mentioned. The information required to sign up is close to ludicurous and will make a lot of people not sign up / enter wrong data. Also, the font really is hard to read .
What has not been said yet is that I feel like there needs to be some steady "income" for players. Sinceyou only get this one dollar and 0.25 if you lose everything makes the whole thing pretty boring. With the fact that players who reach 0 balance getting new money, there will be an inflation either way. The only way to earn more being winning it from other players (if I understood correctly the "money" you earn by doing those horrible offers with which you finance the website and probably also earn money adds to a different balance, and not the "normal" balance) keeps the numbers insanely low and makes everything a lot less exciting. There will never be a real serious competition in this, since it is more of a fun thing, and competition is the only thing I can see that speaks against it.
Edit: Oh, and the twitter box is broken. I didnt even notice it since it's stuck down there. Running on Chrome.
Edit2: I just realized the top thing is not twitter but the suggestion box...
Edit3: Suggestion and Twitter is no longer misplaced. You work fast!

Few things:
- No Terms of and Conditions to read - No guarantee that emails/private information will not be sold on registration page
I thought this was pretty innocent, but with the addition of actual prizes, this smells like a Pyramid scheme
edit:
Says private information will not be made public, but without the ToS...
Sorry, this has just caught be by surprise, it has just sprung up out of no where, prizes and all...

Yea I need to put up some terms and conditions. I just wanted to test out the site. The plan is to give away prizes at some point, but that wont be until after beta.
I can assure you there is no pyramid scheme. We dont sell anything... lol.
The registration form needs some attention. There is alot of unnecessary info in there.

Awesome idea. Will we be able to bet with real money in the future?

it is just this line that kinda makes me secpticle:
GG$ Bonus is awarded to users for completing offers and through regular promotions and prizes
That is pretty much how sites like Lockerz works...
But anyway, I'll just wait till the entire thing gets revealed before I keep going on this with this tin foil hat spiel

It would also bring up the contentious issue of match fixing.
I think the site can be better and more fun without real money on the line.

Seems interesting enough. Wonder if GosuGamers.net is gonna be upset cause this is a better system from what I can tell all around. GJ sir!

Nice idea man im definately gonna try this out, is this based around like real gambling sites? I personally wouldnt know i never have gambled online before but this could help teach me how so i could in the future, also not ever using real money is a really good idea i think having places like this around will give every area of the community something fun to do/talk about! +1 for u my friend
