How big is the nest? 5-6 feet across, about the same deep; it weighs about 1½ tons.
Silly american measurements translated for the metric master race: 1.5-1.8 metres across, about the same deep; it weighs about 680 kilograms.

I had no clue that the nest is that heavy, pretty astonishing. Also I would never have thought of that many people watching this stream. Go little eagle!

A ton is actually a regular metric unit for measuring weight ... 1 ton = 1000 kilograms

1 Ton: 2000 pounds(United States/Canada: Short Ton) or 2240 pounds(Great Britain: Long Ton) =/= 1 Metric Ton(Tonne): 1000 Kilograms.
Although a Long Ton and a Metric Ton are almost the same 1016 kg vs 1000 kg.
So the nest probably weighs about 1360 kg, assuming the original figure is in Short Tons.

No. The 3rd egg is laid a week after the other 2, so the 3rd with hatch around a week later, which would be around the upcoming weekend.

Is one of the "eaglets" dead?

He's sleeping. ^^

Just some info from the "eagle chat": The third egg was apparently laid a week after the second one and it has started to be opened now. The "guys in the know" arent worried that the third one will not get enough food since these eagles have raised 8 eaglets in the last 3 years ... so exciting times are up ahead!
