the entertainment industry is hard to get into. you hear about it all the time about " people selling themselves" to try to be famous.

Horrifying and profoundly depressing. Hope those responsible really get what they deserve. Somehow I feel pessimistic but I can hope. Edit: I'm wondering now if I have to make an ethical decision to stop consuming kpop. Sigh...

Sounds like Korea needs to revolutionize their entertainment industry with unions! If you think this shit doesn't happen in America you are a fool. There are plenty of small "talent agencies" in the US that do this sort of thing. I don't know how pervasive it is in Korea (if the top stars have to pull this shit too) but it happens at the "low levels" so to speak of both countries.

Considering the list wasn't fully released, people in law enforcement might have been on it and it would help to reduce the sentences of the men involved in it.

Typical Korean contracts force you to pay if you want to opt out of your contract (if they don't kick you out). The published FTC ruling on SM Entertainment forced the money to be (Average salery earned/month)*(number of months left in contract). Of course this was more recently and hers could have been more severe. Also note the absurd math here; unless their contract is almost up (and I don't think hers was) there's almost no way you could pay that with what you were making. Also she was suffering from depression, so this may not have been the only reason she committed suicide.
