I think that if you can afford a car you can afford all the tickets too. Most people don't even realize how little time they "win" by speeding.

i dont like the idea of them camping a street corner waiting for someone to screw up. it feels like extortion and you cant do shit about it. got a $200 dollar ticket for not stopping long enough at a stop sign. only 1 other car on the road, no pedestrians. the cop was hiding in the bushes... got another ticket last week for not stopping for pedestrians that JUST entered the crosswalk. they were 2 feet from the curb on the left side of a huge street. i was going 35 on the right side and already close to the intersection. did he want me to slam on the breaks for pedestrians that are 20ft away? this cross walk had no stop sign or traffic lights. it was dark and they were wearing dark clothes as well. 2 very productive cops chatting away at a street corner... was driving down from Oregon to San Francisco, driving a pretty nice rental car, 2011 ford mustang, in the middle of nowhere. an SUV coming from the other side flashes his lights. i got confused at what he was trying to signal and slowed down. turns out a cop was hiding on the side of the freeway behind a wall. what a trooper thanks for the warning! i wasnt used to the huge open road of Oregon. one road was 55mph and it ended into a city with 35mph. since it was 2am in the morning i took my time slowing down. i wasnt accelerating at all and just let it cruise down. got pulled over for speeding (i was around 45mph by now), but the guy let me go ^_^ he was a nice guy and didnt wear the douchy sunglasses the Los Angeles cops always do. talked directly to me face to face. i noticed he had quite a number of scars :x i guess he figured i wasnt used to the rental car and im not from the area. Thanks mr. cop! i notice that there are usually more campers towards the end of the month.

I really have a problem with that attitude, it gets my back up and stings my pride. Got arrested once for being aggressive towards a police officer. Me and a few friends were hanging out at a lake once and were smoking on a bridge when out of nowhere two police cars come from either side and block the exits, 4 officers get out and immediately start being incredibly aggressive, shouting, even threatening. They asked if we were drinking alcohol, we said no, they yanked our drinks off us and put litmus paper or something in there to check if it was alcoholic, then chucked the drinks away. I told one of them to back off and he got really pissed and said he was gonna search me, told him to fuck off and get his hands off me, and I got cuffed and taken in the car for being aggressive towards a police officer. The whole thing was bollocks. Apparently they were allowed to search me because there'd been a robbery at a local shop and simply by being nearby I was enough of a suspect to be searched.

as far as my own experience goes, i never had much trouble with the law - and every single encounter i had resulted in parting ways without any ill feelings or punishments.

But anyway, if you get pulled over under suspicion for drunk driving, actually agreeing to a sobriety test (the walking a straight line shit), that's actually the sign that you are drunk, the rest is just entertainment for the officer to see how drunk you are. You should refuse these and ask for a breathalizer if you aren't drunk or haven't been drinking. Also you never actually have to talk to the police at any point without legal council, no matter what they say.

This reminds me of something that happened to my dad in the 60's in Texas. He and his girlfriend were going out to some small town in Texas from Houston (go figure) and their car broke down. It was like 2AM. So, my dad is trying to wave someone down to go into town (I can't remember exactly what was wrong with the car.) Anyway, they're in this tiny car when a Texas state trooper pulls up. He asks them what's wrong and my dad tells him and asks if he could give them a ride into the next town. He says, "Do I look like a taxi to you?" Then my dad is just floored and shares his incredulity and receives something like this back: "Watch your tone boy." Then he drove off lol. It was 3 or 4 hours later when some lady happened upon them and helped them out.

I've however noticed a trend with cops, those who are completely douchey seem to let you go, got away with speed before, tonight i got away with drifting(tried to nail me for drugs but jokes on him, never done them.) both cases they were complete dicks. The only ticket i have gotten was from the nice cop, and it was a nasty ticket lol. So i'm curious whats ur experience with cops? ya man you totally stuck it to the man by not doing drugs way 2 show em

I deserved the ticket 100% so I wasn't upset. Oh it also just turned into a 60 zone, just got off the highway.

I don't think I've ever gotten out of a real ticket. I wonder if I were a hot girl who could fake cry, rather than being a regular guy, that would help. I have plenty of female friends who have told me that they have no shame getting out of tickets by driving however they want and then acting the part of a damsel in distress. The only time I ever "kind of" got out of a ticket was when I was returning from a concert with my girlfriend. It was late and a cop started following us. I asked her what the speed limit was (I was close to her house, and I was definitely not going to get pulled over for speeding this time). She said 35, we passed a speed limit sign for 35, and I went 30 all the way back to her house. About 500 feet from her house, the cop still pulls me over and asks if I knew how fast I was going. I calmly and respectfully respond with "Yes sir; 30 mph" and my knowledge of the speed limit in that area being 35 mph. He looked surprised; I guess he just assumed he could nail me for speeding. He ended up giving me a ticket because I had a licence plate bracket (the things that all car dealerships and colleges give out for basically free) that was "obstructing vision of my license plate". I asked him what he was talking about, since I knew that the tiny words "Rutgers University" did not in any way block vision of my license plate. Turns out that it got close to the words "Garden State", which was located around my actual license plate, but was a total bullshit charge.
