All the info you need to know what happen last night
So basically he was restreaming/commentating (with idra and jp on skype?) on the gsl games, while occasionally running commercials on his jtv stream, and stopped when jtv/tl talked to him about it, then apologized? I can see that warranting *some* backlash, but the amount of angry nerd-rage today on these and other forums over something so small seems a bit ridiculous to me. I can see being upset that he, as a mod at the time, would restream the GSL (and run /commercials on it, no less), but as a premium ticket holder myself I still sometimes have problems getting their player to work and had even more problems watching without it. I think the amount of hate he is getting is extremely disproportionate to the offense, but I guess the celebrities of any scene are always going to be subject to more intense scrutiny than if a random person no one knew did the exact same thing. Still, as I saw someone mention, he is just now making the transition to being a public figure and until now has just been a funny streamer/player/sotg caster, so I think it's only fair we as a community give him some grace as well, especially after all the work and time he's dedicated to the community and game as a whole. After all, if you watched chill vs combat-ex and then were told day9 is generally the most beloved and most professional caster around, that would be extremely confusing, but he already has been through the transition from community member to public figure. We should give incontrol the same chance before crucifying him over something he did on his own stream in the wee hours of the morning, in my opinion.
It's pretty ironic when you think about how is incontrol making fun of everyone (for example stupid jokes about kelly and totalbiscuit) yet can't take any criticism and jokes himself. I hope the guy he banned got his ban lifted because from what I read it really feels like power abuse. And yea, i'm still butthurt from him closing my harmless blog about NASL because he didn't get the refference.
As for everyone at TL loving incontrol - if I remember correctly there were huge discussions between mods when they were deciding whether he should be part of TL team or not.
Oh my . . . that GSL restream and commercial thing is kind of unsettling. I'm really against that type of thing. I know some people already give flack to iNcontroL for how many commercials he puts on his own stream (I don't mind because I love it, especially with commentary which I think gives that extra value), too. I'm definitely against that type of money off of other people thing. I understand some people restreaming, but someone that prominent doing it on a huge stream? Purposefully putting ads on it? Not cool.
Not to say that I hate iNcontroL or anything now: I still think he's a good guy. Everyone makes mistakes. People just like to give iNcontroL more flack than they do a lot of people because of how he's a "larger than life" type of guy who really puts himself out there.

He tells everyone not to message him in games. They do anyways. Often just to BS. And when they do tell him things like that he says something over the stream like "Don't cheat guys, don't message me in games"
I didn't like INcontroL when I first came to TL. He seemed to revel in being abrasive to people for little to no reason. I groaned at seeing him be made a mod.
Having said that, I was surprised at how professionally he has taking being a banling. With the one exception of seeing him baiting that other team that disallowed idrA playing during the team-league (his conduct was appalling) I think he's been a super responsible moderator and risen to the occasion and role.
As for restreaming, eh, it's not the end of the world. Haven't followed his comments about TB and Kelly so won't comment. But until I see him do something drastically wrong he still has my support.
I don't understand why everyone is getting so nerd-ragey about this whole re-streaming thing.
He was watching the stream with JP and Idra and chatting about the games while doing some other stuff. A mod / admin dude told him to stop, so he did and said sorry.
If anyone wants to re-stream after that, and Incontrol is now aware (assuming that he thought it wasn't against the rules beforehand) that it is against the rules of the world, and you get banned for it, how does this make Incontrol a hypocrite / asshole / douche bag / retard and put Incontrol in the wrong?
There is no way to pick out actual criticism from the bandwagonning of hate at this point, it would do everyone and inControl some good to just let it blow over and have some lulz.
Inc, I watch your streams whenever I have time. You coached a member of our CSL team and I was lucky enough to tune in since you graciously allowed a streamer. From what I've seen firsthand you're a really solid coach and a really funny guy. No one is blameless, and seeing as you've made a public apology I think everyone needs to calm down. I'd hate to see any harm come to you personally or the development of NASL since it is a movement of great magnitude and importance for western e-sports.
+1 to whoever goes and actually makes a video of that rant a la the actual one But seriously, people need to chill the fuck out about iNcontroL, he's helping to push North American Esports along in a HUGE way, and all people wanna do is tear him down.
