So last time I posted a blog related to the company I work for we went to space (well, the camera did) so I figured I'd share another awesome video on our website.
Basically, I worked for a while with this team and they always come back with some absolutely amazing footage. In this video they are doing something called "speed flying" which is really just intense gliding close to the ground/mountain. In this video it is the Red Bull Airforce which is a professional team that does skydiving, base jumping, etc. These guys always have impressed me so I wanted to share a bit of that with you guys. Again, this is not an attempt to give my companies website traffic, I just want to share these really amazing videos with you guys.
Woah, Zatic that is awesome man! I've always wanted to learn how to do it, but it's not exactly the easiest thing (at least here in the states) to find classes for
Your video was great and your instructors video was incredible. Do you guys use Contours? It almost looks that way
Yeah I have a Contour HD with basically every piece of accessory you guys sell. Great product, love it. Will leave for another week in the mountains on Friday, and I'll probably shoot more video than I can ever edit haha.
I nearly pissed myself watching this video. Looking at that just made me cringe at the thought of one of those skies catching an edge and face planting at 100mph.
Also, are you sensitive to motion sickness at all? I remember when I did sky-diving once I got seriously motion sick from all the turbulence on the way down.

I get motion sick like noone else and i had no problems whatsoever speedriding.

Now that we are getting into the crazy ones, take a look at Francois Bon doing the Eiger. This was the fastest decent on this mountain and is quite crazy. Unfortunately Francois died about a year or so ago on another mountain, but his legacy lives on!
I know the quality isn't the best, but trust me it's worth it
Ah, I saw this video a couple of days ago and was completely blown away! God, I really need to do this at some point in my life. I really envy you, zatic.

I know this is kind of late but the thread deserves a bump anyway so here it goes:
Just flying (what you see in the video I shot above) is easy. Basically you go straight until you take off. Assuming there is no/little wind controlling the glide in the air is easy.
What is hard is speed riding as you see the pros do it in the videos posted. Meaning riding on or close to the ground without taking off, except to jump over obstacles. The idea is to still ski, using the glide to control and to ski over otherwise impassable terrain.
Being a decent skier but with zero experience flying I managed to control the glide well enough to actually ski down without taking off by the 4th day. But that probably didn't look too convincing yet and I definitely need more practice. Can't wait for next season :-)
