One of my guilty pleasures is trawling TL for girl blogs. A quick search for "girl" under blogs shows 235 results. Some of these are just threads with pictures of girls but the vast majority are about girl problems. There's something about them that is just so fascinating to me. If I had to attribute it to one thing I think it would be the voyeuristic nature of it. It's the same reason people watch shows like Ricki Lake or Maury. We love getting a glimpse into the sordid affairs of other people. Part of it is a sort of schadenfreudic thrill (this would also explain why I get a sort of dark pleasure from seeing OP get eviscerated by TL) but more than anything, I think humans just like to watch.
I've also noticed a few archetypes in the greater umbrella of "girl blogs". This list is by no means complete.
The "Serious" Girl Blog
As the name suggests, these are serious blogs about serious problems that usually receive serious responses. They're also seriously boring.
The "High school" Girl Blog
These are the blogs about mind-numbingly petty problems, the kind that make you think wistfully of being 14 again.
The "Friendzone" Girl Blog
We've all been there and we've all left in the same manner. We find someone who is actually into us.
The "Cringe" Girl Blog
These usually involve an OP who made a terrible faux pas in front of the girl he's after- the kind that makes you wince as if someone just flicked your nipple. His first reaction to such a traumatic experience of course, is to make a blog on TL explaining the situation in excruciating detail. They usually contain the phrase "WHAT DO I DO NOW HELP ME TL AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" somewhere within the body.
The "Rekrul" Girl Blog
These blogs start off as one of the other types but what really makes them notable is when Rekrul comes in and just shits all over everything. These are some of my favourites.
There are also some fun games you can play with girl blogs. Here are some examples:
"Is OP asian?"
"How old is OP?"
"Does TL agree with my advice?" (Note: they usually do because 90% of the time it's "dump that bitch's ass")

The "cringe" girl blogs are definitely fascinating in their own way. Although I almost always come away from a girl blog feeling depressed and upset at the actions of either one or both parties. And yet I can't stop reading them. Must be the fascination with the abomination.

I'm hesitant to include the first one simply cause it turned out to be a lie. That kinda ruined it for me.
As for M2's dog, i don't really consider it a "girl blog" although it's not quite a "dog blog" either. It's something ....much more.

There was a 'girl blog' a few months/years ago (memory is so fuzzy) where the OP posted an incredulous story and had pics to back it up. The pic was actually taken with a mannequin.
EDIT: Wow, I can't read. Uh, I guess that's my favorite in any case. :D

usually when I see a girl blog I grab some popcorn and wait for rekrul shit storms to begin. They are probably the most entertaining posts on the forums

I love girl blogs, and then i love the pages of a mixture of serious advice and people questioning whether it is real or not. but some are quite pathetic.

I hate them, but I'd wager that I have a significant amount of posts invested in those threads by either laughing or playing the Asian game.
I'd actually probably miss them. Most of them are so pitiful.

i was really surprised by the first poll results since i always felt like TL really despised girl threads. The results may be biased though since the people who clicked the thread name are probably people who actually like girl blogs
