I've been interested in studying Korean for a long time. I am considering going to Korea to study for a semester or a year, depending on how I like it there.
Of course, with the somewhat recent North Korean threats on South Korea, what does TL think? Is it safe to go? Or maybe now is not a good time? I know TL generally sees Korea in a favorable light (after all, we're SC fans), so I think most people will say yes.
I'm thinking that the embassy will alert Americans to evacuate, should there be a need to do so. But of course, North Korea could potentially attack before even getting a chance to evacuate in the first place.
What do you think?

I'm pretty sure its safe, and anyway, if north and south koreas start going at it its not like you'll be safe anywhere anyway.
there are a lot of other considerations that are more important.

I honestly think there is a higher chance of you dying from a car accident than dying from a North Korean missile. If North Korea is what is keeping you from going to South Korea, I think you worrying about the wrong thing. Do some searching about life in Korea, food, weather, etc. Those will be much more relevant and important.

If you have the means and the opportunity, as well as the desire to then I see no need to question this at all. North Korea has been shouting threats for 50 years now, its what keeps their aid going. If you want to wait until N. Korea and S. Korea reconcile their differences, you're in for a long wait.

I'm like 99% sure im going to Korea to visit this summer, and I have considered the North Korean issue. Not really worried about it. I would rather die happy than live in fear should something awful happen. But like moopie said, you would be waiting a long time possibly for N. Korea to reconcile.

GSL games are free to watch! What part of Korea are you going to? What university / college?

Go dude! It would be a great opportunity!
Threats from NK? lolz...

I live in Japan and I have absolutely no fear what so ever regarding NK. What theyre doing is just politics nothing else. I dont think you have to worry.

I was thinking about studying abroad there, if you have questions, check out my blog about it. I asked the KU representative how the tension was and he told me not to quote him, but him and most South Koreans see NK as a "whiney child", and they aren't worried. Study abroad blog
