This is awful! earlier today i accidently smacked my hand agaisnt a wall, didn't feel anything and just went back to laddering. After an hour or two I started feeling pain and stiffness in my right ring finger (which is the finger I use for my right click)
Now, it's extremely painful, I'm fairly sure it's either broken or got a hairline fracture cuz its super stiff and incredibly painful if I accidently bend it!
My mom is sick with a gastric flu thing going around so I dont want to wake her up (the first time shes got any sleep in 3 days is the night i break my finger, figures)
This is really annoying, I use that finger to right click, to click enter when i type, and its very painful! T_T
I don't know what the point of this blog is, vent i guess? ugh just had to use my thumb and index for the question mark when i usually use my pinky and ring finger! so annoying!

Sadly, I don't think you can get a finger cast. You might want to rap a tensor bandage around it and ice it.

i took anti inflamatories to make sure it doesnt swell up and right now im holding it as straight as possible, unti i can seek medical advice, cant get a cast but u can get it taped and have a splint and what not

I played a lot of sports growing up and I jammed my finger approximately sixtyleven times. It sounds like you did the same thing. Wrap it and ice it, the swelling will go away in a few days.

thing is i know this pain, the last time I had this exact pain was when i had a hairline fracture in my arm.

How did you accidentally smack your wall? Did you mean to punch a hole instead or...? I'm just curious
|
well, basically in my kitchen there's a pantry built in. and its a wall that sticks out like this |_ and while i was heading there to get bread for lunch i was playing with my dog and when i swivelled around my finger smacked into the corner of the wall

Tape it to your middle finger.

I've had too many basketballs jam my fingers. From what it sounds like, it's gonna hurt for a while. Once the swelling goes down, as long as you can still move it (there will still be pain), you should be fine in a couple weeks if you take it easy. If the swelling decreases but you still can't move your finger, go see a doctor.

Yeah, that or get something straight and tape it to your finger. Like part of a popsicle stick or something. Ice helps too.

stop using it or you will make it worse.

Tape it to another finger or something. Regardless of whether it's fractured or just jammed really bad, restricting its movement and forcing it to rest will help. Ice it as well.

My dad threw a football at me (not on purpose) and it jammed my finger in and I couldn't move it for the entire summer. I just taped it to my other finger and it felt fine once it healed. Sometimes it gets a bit stiff but that's prob not from this incident.

Not good man, I had the same sort of thing happen to me when I was younger, except it was my toe next to my little toe. I ended up fracturing it but was able to walk on it for a day or so prior. I also walked into a wall LOL, well the corner of one actually, even worse.
Definitely get it checked out and move from there, Ice it up and tape it to your middle finger to keep it straight and get to the doctor when you can
Best wishes

Yeah this was my reaction.
Gotta be careful Temporarily learn to click with a different finger, I guess. Good luck!

well good news, it's deffo not broken, after having kept it taped all night and now have a finger brace it already feels much better, still a bit stiff and quite painful if i try to bend it but much better overall :D
