Chrono Trigger is one of the best rpgs ever made. Create a great cast of characters, a sweet story, kick ass music, clean graphics, and you've got an excellent game. It also featured a large amount of replay ability with the new game + feature. This feature let you replay the game with your end characters and showed many different endings.
Magus: A man so sexy, he gets his own tier
Not only are the characters great, but so is the music. I listen to this song and undersea palace while laddering/studying all the time.
If you put this on while laddering, you will play like a pro
The game also featured a pretty cool fighting system. Characters can attack together to form techs. Some techs were just plain beastly.
FALCON PUNCH HIT!!!
So by now, some of you may be wondering what Flames of Eternity means. With Chrono Cross long gone, a few years ago a team undertook the ambitious project of creating a true Chrono Trigger sequel. This game was an interquel between Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross. This hack was entitled Crimson Echoes. It developed new techs, a completely new storyline, new sprites etc. However at 98% completion, the group was issued a Cease and Desist order from Square Enix. The group decided to stop with Crimson Echoes and never released a finished version. The following is a badass video they produced.
Death IS nothing to the reaper
When all fates for a Chrono Trigger sequel looked dead in the water, a new group emerged. This group began a new project entitled, "Flames of Eternity." This project was not endorsed by the Crimson Echoes team.
Flames of Eternity opened for Beta testing a week ago. All story lines are completed, they are currently just tweaking difficulty and bug fixing any glitches that come up. The game features a completely new storyline, new sprites, new techs, new dungeons and over 30 hours of gameplay. Save often! It is difficult.

Hopefully, if you have never played Chrono Trigger, this blog has convinced you to play this beautiful game. If you are a fan of the series, Flames of Eternity is a must play. It's wonderfully made and true to the series. Definitely check it out.
I'm a huge fan of Chrono Trigger, but I never really liked the other games (chrono cross i think it was called?) Good release, and I'm glad someone is willing to make spin-offs/w.e it is. Downloading :3
Chrono Cross was kind of lame with 40 characters. Plus the fighting system was very different than Chrono Trigger, which I think was one of the things that made the game so great.
I remember when the Chrono Compendium was making Crimson Echos. I was disappointed when it got C&Ded. One of the things that I thought was good about CE, was that it was being made to be completely consistent with Chrono Trigger/Cross' plot. There was tons and tons of discussion about plot holes, continuity, and how time travel worked on their forums long ago, and CE was going to remain consistent with that. You have any idea if this new game will stay true to that?
Chrono Cross was just ok. Chrono Trigger is a classic. I remember people saying that if you were colorblind you couldn't play Chrono Cross, because the combat was based on colors. That sucks lol.
I've played through Chrono Trigger so many times, on SNES and on emulators throughout the years. I might have to give Flames of Eternity a shot.
Chrono Trigger (IMHO) is the best RPG ever created. It's exiting right from the begining, and it's impossible to voluntarily take a break from playing it until you reach the credits (or maybe even after). It's just that great. I'll definitely give Flames of Eternity a try, thanks a lot zerlingsfolife.
Just want to say that I'm definitely interested in a stream. I'll probably give it a go stream or no, but watching something in action always ramps up the hype for me.
Watched the 14 min play through and I'm already dying to play it. I love how they used music from lots of other square enix games, the bike scene music from FF7 was great, was disapointed when he left the house, lol.
EDIT: Man, it's kinda funny that I finished playing through the new chrono trigger advance a few months ago then this comes out! Kinda strange how I end up playing chrono trigger twice in such a short time span after 15 or so years since the original, lol.
