A: David Barr, 22 from the USA
Q: How long have you been playing SC:BW?
A:5 years
Q: What are your main achievements?
A:Joining high level clans, some paid, winning a lot of division 1 clanwar games, some televised matches, and some streamed matches + some nice betgame wins. Also winning the final game of a $500 league for Xion_G vs xLo to seal the money for my team vs JF!!
Q: Wow that's impressive!
So when and why did you join Los Reyes del Mambo?
A:I'd have to check but around a year ago. After a team stopped paying me I lost interest in BW, as many people do after being paid. I thought I was going to retire and just show up to random CW matches and play off and on for LRM) so I picked a secure team that was in division 1. A lot of my friends laughed at me from better teams and I told them to fuck off. After I joined the team I fell in
love with it actually being a team instead of just some place where players play, reminded me a lot of MgZ) so I became active again. Once I was active I decided it's time to turn things around for LRM) and did my best to do that.
Now we're #1!
Q:It was not an easy way to make it to the number one. What is the reason LRM became the best non-korean team again after many years?
A:Well after every money hungry nerd that lives in his moms basement decided to go to Starcraft 2 there wasn't as much competition. Ie ToT) and MYM were gone. LRM) was top 3-5 at the time so with a lot of team spirit and players sticking around and constantly searching for talent and everyone playing well to win everything, LRM took over and jumped right to the top.
Q: Some weeks ago we saw you in the iCCup attack. How do you feel about it?
A:I felt that it was good for the team, not so much me, but I don't care for that. I knew it would help wake up the Brood War community and so I tried to make it as entertaining as possible, talking to the listeners the entire time and doing funny builds that make for better games. The event itself is a great event no matter who plays in it, though. lächeln
Q: Recently, the manager team decided to close the team and retire and, some days ago, the team merged with iG. making the new team "LRM Evolutions". What role did you play in that merge?
A:Well, when LRM) disbanded of course every top team messaged the players. Me, myself, had 5 good offers as well as 100 bad ones and from what I've heard from other players when I asked they had more or less of the same result. iG's leader messaged me on Facebook asking me if we'll merge and keep our tag, or if they can let their team disband as well and merge under a new name after the season was over.
So I confronted all of the active and good LRM clanmates I had and asked them how they feel. They told me to do whatever and that I should be put in charge of it. After a lot of talks with iG's leadership we decided to join their team under our tag. I decided to keep LRM) because I love the clan and it has a lot of history. Of course all "old" LRM wanted to keep using the tag, so it was an easy choice.
Q: Also, some people said that closing the team was a way of getting the community's attention for later doing that merge. Is that true?
A:I'm not sure if that was the intent of the merge, but that was definitely the result. LRM) is plastered all over almost every major Brood War websites front page, including the biggest one to date, iccup.com. Like I said that was definitely not why I think the merge took place, as I said, iG. contacted me on Facebook after hearing the news. Although I am glad that LRM is now getting this much attention.
Q: So recently LRM added to the team the chilenean player Ultra. How is he gonna contribute in a so big roster?
A:In many ways. He adds a player to practice with, a certain style of Terran. He's A- high so if he shows up to clan wars he's just one of many other players who can take matches off of other players, and having an excess of great players is never a bad thing. Not to mention, he can't be in other teams to help them beat us! lächeln
Q: Last season, LRM and iG were the best teams being 1st and 2nd in iCCup Clan League. Now they are together so, is LRM far away from the other teams?
A: Definitely. The only team that has a chance of beating us is Nb. and some phantom luck by some other team. But I'd say that with a top lineup, absolutely no team can beat us.
Q: Now you are a trusted member of LRM at iCCup. Do you do manager duties? Or you prefer to leave those duties to JiNu, Spain SpaNiarD and Sylous?
A:When I can get around to it. I'm super active and everytime I check for something they've already done it! The only managerial duties I do is trying potential members out (a lot), playing with the members and keeping them sexually happy, and reminding everyone of clan wars. Even if I help JiNu, SpaNiarD, or Sylous, inevitably they'll get it done without me.
Q: To sum up, what are the objectives of LRM for the upcoming seasons?
A:WIN... WIN... WIN... Keep winning... when we're done winning to much, win a little bit more, and after we're tired of winning, just let the new players win.
Q: Hahaha I see you like to win ^^. Thank you for your time. You want to say anything for closing up this interview?
A:Los Reyes del Mambo fighting~
