You can change with this legal method only hotkeys, that are in based hotkeys schemes. SO mostly it's actual for remapping camera views and remapping Backspace to Tilde (Grave), and maybe some other hotkeys, but not race specific hotkeys

Okay, so either i'm dumb or my computers dumb... or the guide is wrong
So, i made the notepad thing, saved it, went to make the folder (documents/starcraft II/) And where it SAYS in the guide there should be a hotkey folder, so, naturally, as it says, i make one (documents/starcraft II/Hotkeys/)
Inside i place the Malpractice.sc2hotkeys file i made from the beginning (which, btw, still denotes the 'type' as a 'text document', is this supposed to be the case?)
And i reload Sc2... Check menu, hotkeys... Nothing is there >.<
Can anyone help me with this, or show me where to go to do so?
Also, when i downloaded that file, its just a sc2hotkeys file which i cant open w/whats on my computer (and searching web cant...) and a folder w/some text docs showing the starting hotkeys, so i assume its just for reference?
And if i wanted to use ~ instead of backspace for next hatch, is that 'tilde' or 'grave' on US keyboards?

I don't think you should allow it it was even harder hotkey setups in BW but that's a part of the skill set needed to master something that you ahven't set up your self.

Malpractice.248
Make sure your OS is set to display extensions for all file types. It sounds like you've named the file as Malpractice.sc2hotkeys but it still has a hidden .txt extension.

Yea, im using windows 7, any way to change that? or how would i save it properly then? When i did save as, i just typed name.sc2hotkeys >.<
okay so youre right, i did check its properties (dunno how to make OS show extension) and it IS a .txt file... How do i change that to a .sc2hotkey file//edit the one in the DL? given i cant open it
I wish someone would just edit one to grid, make the ~ = next hatch (backspace currently) and post it so i can download, drag and drop.. lol
Cuz, yea, i cant figure out how to edit/make sc2hotkey files Only wanted to do grid + change the next hatch to ~ :p

Im using WinXP but most stuff should be same or similar. Open up any folder, and on the top click Tools>Folder Options. Under the "View" tab, find something like "Hide file extensions for known filetypes", and uncheck the checkbox. After that it should show your file as Malpractice.sc2hotkey.txt, just rename it and remove the .txt from the end.
To open the files the sc2hotkey files you need to right click on the file and select "Open with..." (or just open if it isnt there, and "select program from list"), and just find notepad in the list and open it.
E: Actually you can create a real .sc2hotkey file without showing extensions if you open your .txt file in Notepad, choose "Save As..." and at the bottom there should be a dropdown menu where it says "Text Documents". Change this to "All files", and save it as Malpractice.sc2hotkey. This way it wont add the hidden .txt at the end.

Okay, so i'm very fond of this hot key changing thing.. I got it down, and know how to edit the hot keys now, thanks alot OP!
Now, my question is this:
I wanna change the key i put my units in group with to the "Tilde" Key (The key to the left of "1") My problem is, when i type in Tilde instead of Control, nothing changes in the configuration in-game, its still set at Control..
Anyone know what i should type in to change this?

Think the Danish keyboard is pretty much same as the Finnish, and assume your key is §. Dont think there is a way to hotkey anything to it atm, since blizz would need to add the name of it to the list of avalable keys, and since its quite rare to have this button I dont think its there.

Please, read again this topic http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=154298¤tpage=5#81
Thats why you're need to download those txt files, where you can "Search" text "Backspace", copy it to your scheme and change to Grave (as example)
It's original TownCamera=Backspace
You must change it to
TownCamera=Grave
since blizz would need to add the name of it to the list of avalable keys Read first post again, please
and open GameHotkeys_UI (or UI2, no difference, both files are fully same). There are all hotkeys, that you can change

Actually, it's not necessary grave for all key board. It can be Tidle, or even Apostrophe and probably some other.
But, a good way to know how starcraft 2 is considering the key is to bind a short cut to put your mic' on in the game option. Just choose push to talk, assign the key you want to know the ID and here you go.

Okay, I've tried all kinds of combinations, and I can't for the love of god, change my control key to the "Tilde" key..
I can change it to alot of other stuff, but when i put in "Tilde" nothing really happends.. I tried Putting in "Tilde (Grave)" as that is how SC2 names the button, but still no effect..
I'm gonna try the thing with renaming my Push to talk key, and see what i get in result..
If anyone has any experience with using the "Tilde" or "Grave" key (Or what ever you wanna call it, the one to the left of "1") as a hotkey, please do post the line of your .sc2hotkeys - It would help me alot, and probably save me a bit of time finding out..
Thanks in advance,
Jesper

Maybe my post wasn't clear...I wish i was more confident in my English to say : "Recommend you read my post AGAIN"
I actually don't have any issue at all, but again on my keyboard, SC2 doesn't use "Grave" or "Tilde", it's "Apostrophe". I did read that topic a lot before figure it out, and there was no clue about that ID. So i gave a method that worked for me to get how SC2 was using that particular key ( and thanks, i know that list, but how am i supposed to guess it was Apostrophe ? I should try every ID ? ).
@ jelle or Jesper : Here's my custom hotkey files, hope it helps. The good thing is, you'll be able to change that with the upcoming patch.
[Settings]
[Commands] TownCamera=F1 IdleWorker=W CameraSave0=Control+F2 CameraSave1=Control+F3 CameraSave2=Control+F4 CameraSave3=Control+F5 CameraSave4=Control+F6 CameraSave5=Control+F7 CameraSave6=Control+F8 CameraTurnLeft=Insert CameraTurnRight=Delete CameraView0=F2 CameraView1=F3 CameraView2=F4 CameraView3=F5 CameraView4=F6 CameraView5=F7 CameraView6=F8 ControlGroupAssign0=Control+Apostrophe ControlGroupAppend0=Shift+Apostrophe ControlGroupRecall0=Apostrophe
Note that my town camera is on F1, but i'm using the "tilde" key ( call it whatever you want ^^ ) as a control group.

That hotkey scheme won't work with 1.2, you either need it based off Grid or Default, not both the way you wrote there.
What you can to is create a default-based hotkey scheme and change all the hotkeys to fit the grid.
