Slaytesics is not trolling you Simply put, there are much better things to troll people with. Glares at Pandain
EDIT:Okay, I don't know much, but just a few things. Make sure the asylum isn't violating any safety standards. It shouldn't be an issue, but abuse in mental hospitals is always a big problem. Having Parents being able to visit you and make sure that their idea of treatment isn't to simply lock you in a dark room is always a good thing
Secondly, evaluate your financial situation. Will getting medical help strain your family's budget? Although its best to get help early, I understand it is a recession. EDIT: I like other people's advice better. Don't listen to this crazy dude named LSB

Just one question, how do you know you have this if your parents don't know? finally someone with logic. was hoping teamliquid's usercout at this time wasnt full of teenagers Hahahaha

it's not as easy as you think it is to get thrown into an asylum. For teenagers, they are mostly used for people who are close to killing themselves and/or other people. Schizophrenia and DID (I don't think that's a valid disorder) are in most cases not that dangerous, but I don't think you have either. Anyway, the process is to go to a psychologist first, you can do it with or without your parents help, but I suggest this course so you two can work out a more permanent solution. And again, you won't be thrown in against your will while you are having a mutual and conscious dialogue with your therapist.
Also, you know about the id, ego and superego freud theory? It sounds very reminiscent

i've been diagnosed with schizophrenia a long time ago and in order for you to go to a mental institution is if you threaten or actually cause harm to someone. other than that it takes a long time for them to prove you are unsafe for society.

I'm told I'm insane all the time, and you know what? They're right. I'm balls to the wall crazy.

animal personalities are not normal. i strongly suggest getting help.
on the bright side, you will be OK. your problem is actually pretty common.
psychiatric problems can be made worse by having a bad diet and consuming drugs or alcohol, so try hard in this area and do not give up even if you fail .
can you tell us your diet and drug habits?

Seriously man your not going to get anywhere coming on tl and asking people for excuses on how to get people to believe that you are not insane. What will get you somewhere is talking with a professional in real life to determine if you have a problem.

Maybe some people need 'help', maybe I'm one of them, maybe you are, maybe I am 'insane', maybe my life would be better if I got help, maybe yours would be
The point is that psychiatry cannot offer that, if something exists that can offer you that is a question that I honestly find hard to answer.
Psychiatry is currently in its infancy, the practice is 80 years old at best. It's at the level of using leeches. Psychiatry simply cannot help people who need help, and help might not even exist.
The research towards the effacy of psychiatric care is 'inconclusive' at best, with a lot of researches indicating that it does more harm than good.
I've been going to psychiatrist from psychiatrist to psychiatrist, each had a different opinion about what diagnosis was appropriate and what treatment was. Often one would recommend what another would advice against.
Again, I'm not saying that some people don't need help, I'm saying that pychiatry in its current form is not able to provide that help, or if help an even be provided at all. Psychiatric ideas of as little as 30 years back are now already seen as outdated and dangerous, and in 30 years what they do today will be viewed similarly possible.
If 'insane' is even a useful label, who knows? DSM-IV is growing vast and a lot of things entered it which 30 years back would just be called 'hippy'.Basically living a slightly bohemian life already qualifies you for some disorders.

sounds like you need to see a psychiatrist, or at least talk about this stuff with someone
it doesn't sound like you're a danger to yourself or anyone else so i don't think you should go to an asylum
|
You have two options to choose from: 1. Control yourself so that you do not hurt others 2. Live in a controlled environment such as an asylum
|
Only go to a psychiatrist if you know for a fact they produce results. I would recommend studying Dr Therman Fleet's stick figure image of the mind, so you can have a picture of the mind. You can use that picture to change what is programmed into your subconscious mind, thereby changing your habits. Then all you have to do is change your associations, which takes simple NLP (In the form of playing with mental pictures of various experiences to change their meanings).
I don't know much about your specific situation. But perhaps that will give you something to start with.
Also, remember psychiatrists now consider it to be a name for people who prefer healthy foods over nonhealthy foods. If you go to a random psychiatrist without doing research first, you may end up going to a 'scammer' who will call you something and it can really effect your personal life in ways I don't even want to discuss.

Nah you don't have to tell your parents if they are anything like mine I know why you haven't told them.

dude go to a doctor tl.net is hardly qualified to give advice of this nature. and good luck.

Mental illness is no different than any type of physical illness. If you truly are worried about yourself/feel this way, see a psychologist or psychiatrist. Forget the pointless stigma and look after yourself.
|
You've seen too many movies..
You'll likely be just put on medication, unless you are truly a risk... I highly doubt that though.

I agree 100%. If you care enough, you should really talk to your parents/close friends, or even better yet a doctor. There is no one here that can give you qualified advice. If you are in the puberty age range, it could just be hormones. My advice, is don't jump to any conclusions and keep optimistic.

My mom was diagnosed with schizophrenia around 1999-2000. At first it was really hard on my father and I because we weren't sure why she was acting the way she was until we took her to see a therapist one day. They put her on Clonazepam and she has been fine ever sense although the medicine can make her a bit air-headed at times. A lot of people don't know what it's like to have a mental illness or be around someone with one so it's hard for them to put themselves in our shoes.

If you are having problems reconciling your personality traits into one coherent whole, that in and of itself is a significant indicator of mental instability. For all you know, your problems could be caused by a simple neurotransmitter malfunction, easily treatable via drug therapy to replace/simulate the problematic chemical.
Put it like this, you might still win games by going 20 hatch 25 pool, but it's hardly optimal, is it? Also, if you're under pressure to be institutionalised and refuse, then finally are made to, it's a METRIC FUCKTON harder to get back out again, as opposed to doing it voluntarily.
My parents essentially left me to bring myself up until I was old enough for full time school (about 4 years old) so I have a lot of traits that most socialised humans find creepy or aggressive (to make a comparison to your remark about displaying "animalistic" tendencies. I have a constant battle to unlearn these habits and I don't have any major chemical imbalances. If you are rationalising your incoherent mental processes, than this is of itself, a worrying thing.
If you're still reading this, please, seek help. Not for your friends, not for your family, but for yourself.
Hope it works out.
