I tried searching for blood bowl here but doesn't seem to be any threads. I just want to recommend this game, it is one great strategy game. I'm sure there are some more ppl out there playing both bb and sc2?
With legendary edition the number of races went from 7 to 20 and with that there is of course more variation in matchups. The online client has a matchmaking system just like sc2.
Anyone else playing this game? The late game blood bowl situations are some of the most intense in strategy games imo.
Played a little bit of Blood Bowl tabletop, and I have the non-legendary edition (from last year). I've been debating getting the Legendary Edition, but I'm more interested in playing with friends, and none of my friends are really interested in buying it. Still considering it, though. It would be awesome to have a Teamliquid league of some variety for it.
Its certainly an amazing turn-based strategy game (theres a real-time mode, but believe it or not, turn-based is infinite superior), if none of you have played it before. There is a little bit of luck involved, which will often bite you in the ass, but minimizing the amount of bad luck that can effect you is, in some ways, the objective of the game.
It's also very fun because of the way results carry over from game to game. To those who don't know much about Blood Bowl, you create a team (with limited resources) and during the course of games, you earn more money in which to upgrade your team. However, you have to battle with constant injuries, and even deaths, which is a constant juggle when you're playing in a league or scheduled in a seasons worth of games.
This thread needs some videos though.
Also, old school Blood Bowl (old MSDOS game) had one of my favorite game songs/intros of all time. Looks like shit now but I love nostalgia.
I bought a version on Steam for $10 a few weeks ago; assuming it's the normal edition, but I honestly have no idea. Just seemed like a cool game and a good deal. Have yet to boot it up, though. Just checked my desktop and it's apparently the Dark Elves edition, so I don't know if that's standard, legendary, or something else entirely.
I would definitely buy a game if we had enough people down to play a TL league. That would be hella fun. We could do game write-ups and whatnot, too.
We'd all have to have the Legendary Edition, though. I remember reading that they aren't cross compatible- so even if you want to play one of the first 8 races, you have to play with the Legendary.
I purchased the Legen...wait for it...dairy edition, since I had the original, and loved the board game. I'd be up for some kind of multiplayer league.
It would be cool to make a TL-league happen. The nice thing about bloodbowl is that it's pretty much perfect to create a new team and play in a league.
We could have some sort of group stage and then playoffs?
Looks like we have 4+ who'd be interested in a Teamliquid league. I have a friend (who plays sc2 and watches TL streams but is a lurker) who may be interested in as well. If we can get 8, I think we can start a league of some variety.

Very slow moving game, I can see why its not popular.
You essentially watched a youtube video of a chess match/M:tG match/etc. and decided it's "slow moving."
Edit: The issue with the popularity of this particular incarnation of the game is that there's a free (though less graphically pleasing) alternative that's been out for some time and has an established fanbase:
It is a slow-moving game for all intents and purposes, but the game itself (whether its tabletop, fumbbl or this PC game) is wildly popular. It's as slow paced as any board game, but the strategy is what makes it exciting.
Is there a demo for this game? I have enjoyed playing American Football games in the past without actually knowing how to play the game (it was the closest thing to a rugby game at the time) and when I was a kid liked warhammer a bit so this might be pretty fun. Definitely keen if a TL league is set up.

If you like warhammer, american football and strategy games you will like blood bowl.
There are basically finesse teams and brute force teams in BB. The brute force teams try to reduce the number of players of other team (via KO, injury or death) and then run the ball in when there is no def left. The finesse teams try to dodge, pass or just run their way past defence because they cannot match other team with brute force.
After games your players level up which creates opportunities to create the specific characters you want for your team, i.e. what works best for your strat.

Now that they added the Bombardier to the Legendary Edition, its tempting :D

The complete rulebook can be found here. It is a somewhat long read if you look through the whole thing (its a complex game) but if you skim through it to get the core rules, you'll be able to piece a lot of things together.
The most important things to look up are how blocks work (aka tackles/attacks/etc, not with a shield or anything), what unit statistics mean in relation to the game (movement speed, strength, etc) and how the average turn is played out. Past that, theres a ton ton ton of stuff when it comes to building a team, leveling up a team, random factors that come in to play in each game, etc etc, but knowing the core rules is whats most important.
Just tripped over this thread, and is ive been playing quite some BloodBowl through the tabletop and the pc game (both Blood Bowl & Blood Bowl Legendary Edition) i thought i would come with a bit of an input.
For those interested, i can sort out a private TL League, where ppl can play, learn, be ranked etc. ofcourse depending if there is enough ppl interested in this?
For those of you new to the game and want to learn and read abit about it, the official forum of the game makers is where to go:
