What typical internet warriors don't understand that is Internet is just another way for people to communicate. There isn't much difference between being an asshole online and being an asshole in person. You are just that same asshole, except you have the benefit of not being seen while you are acting like one. It's not a separate planet or a separate reality. Seems like Idra is covering that up pretty well then. No, he is not. If he was, he wouldn't be so disliked all over the place by so many people. He would be well loved and respected. Guess what? Actions have consequences. He has great skills and is one of the few foreigners that can compete with Koreans. The only reason he is disliked is his behavior. Simple as that. So no, he isn't fooling anyone or covering up anything. Really, because what ive seen in a past tournaments or podcasts, hes been well mannered?(still the same idra in forums though, but really doesn't mean anything Imo.) Most of the people still dislikes him because of the behavior in Beta and broodwar times. But now he has showed pretty much the opposite. OR hes covering that up well, as i said earlier. You said that there isn't much difference being an asshole online and being an asshole in person. Somehow this doesn't fit here right know. I know many people whos acting like a fucking douche in Internet etc, but they are not the same in person. To friends nor strangers. And i seriously doubt Idra is anyway near anyway. But you are right with the reason why he is disliked and that is true. E: and to your incoming fanboy card. I just like Idras playstyle, thats why i watch his games. I dont really care about else. Just sick of the constant 'idra has no manners' shit in every thread.
Didn't plan on calling you a fanboy. A fanboy is somebody who blindly defends his favorite, completely ignoring everything else. You don't seem to fit the description.
He has been well mannered in tournaments and podcasts but apparently that didn't spill over onto the internet. Look at the Korean comments and to what most of it applies. His Internet behavior. Not to mention that comment he made in a WeRRa disband topic about a subject that people really shouldn't treat as a joke. Those things are funny/cool when you are young or immature.
There isn't a difference in a sense that a lot of people think that Internet is a separate entity and somehow not connected to the real world. It's quite the opposite, if you were an asshole online you remain that same asshole offline, it's just that you are too afraid to behave that way because consequences can range from being kicked out of somewhere to getting your ass kicked to a bloody pulp if you piss of the wrong person.
Internet provides safety and anonymity for people who are too cowardly to show their assholish side in person. At least people who are assholes anywhere aren't hypocrites.
People also really, really shouldn't use the excuse "oh he loses games on the internet, he gets angry, it's normal for him to rage etc etc". He loses games on stage as well and to people he considers to be beneath him. Does he go into a tantrum yelling at them, throwing his keyboard around or showing any hints of his Internet persona? He quietly GG's with the same expression he has when winning.

I agree on the Werra disband 'joke' and the excuse part. And i'm sorry, i didn't pay that much attention to the comments (about internet behavior etc).
But i think all comes to this, what seems to be very true:
He has been well mannered in tournaments and podcasts but apparently that didn't spill over onto the internet.
So lets hope his mannerism is moving towards what it should be. Maybe that changes Idra's image in the future.
peace~

Sounds pretty tame. Not nearly as interesting as the stuff that goes on between Korea/Japan/China events.

Bunch of dicksuckers talking shit on the internet, only thing that's different is these dicksuckers have slanted eyes. Don't see why anybody would really want to translate this horse-shit.

yeah, instead the OP could have translated one of the GSL interviews with NaDa or Boxer instead!!!!

Ah this stuff is hilarious, thanks for the translations. What goes around comes around.

Wow. The gamers appear so good mannered in public and on stage, but behind the scenes they are som vile people. The hero in this is Greg Fields. Fighting Greg don't give up!

I'm guessing Idra's bnet BM was that he didn't type GG when he lost.

i hope idra wins the next gsl and then stands up and yells KIMCHI EZ GAME or some shit, just to offend everyone. then the whole crowd starts booing and idra starts dancing yelling "AMERICA WIN, AMERICA WIN"

Woah thats quite the bit of crazy comments there. I dont think Idra deserves all this crazy bashing. Seems to me they are even more BM than him. I mean come on, Idra did improve his public image from what I saw from him. ugh :/

rofl.
I swear I was thinking the same thing. These people think they have justice. Just wait for idra's next ceremony lol.

Lol, those haters never cross on idra, probably never will. IdrA is still better than all those stupid netizens combined (I rooted for Zenio on that one, because I like his playstyle and funky moves).
|
Milkis you did a pretty good job in translating for someone who claims to be bad at trash talking lol.
My opinion is that all of this BM going back and forth is good for development of e-sports (SC2-wise). As many of you have mentioned here and in interview translation threads, we don't want any more of "I will try my best, thanks to my practice partners, I practiced really hard, thank you coach, I got lucky since I had better strategy" cliche. Instead we want drama, we want strong and unique characters, we want it to get personal.
That's where IdrA comes in. He is bringing hate and initiating a whole chain of love-and-hate drama around SC2 e-sports in Korea. Isn't it awesome? Instead of relying on the fanbase to create artificial rivalries, we can get them naturally from players being fueled by each other's BM.
Screw arguing about skills and talent and stuff, just sit back and lol @ the drama.

Lol, this is the sort of stuff that makes a competitive scene interesting.
Keep going, Idra, you are doing great!

If you like throwing shit around dont get suprised if someone flings it back at you. Had he done that ceremony to TLO i would be upset but at Idra it is okay, and i really like Idra's play, if not his character.
And showing some emotion is good!

you guys think its funny or entertaining, however the insults in korean are obviously more serious to the koreans and they take it to heart, especially since they already think Grack is disrespectful. Being a complete childish racist is not funny, and no1 has the right to criticize people's play who are infinitely better than you. He should just grow up already, he's nothing amazing get over yourself.
|
Reading this made me support Idra even more. Kick some Korean ass! :D
|
netizens get mad over everything
Obviously you can criticize play that's better than you, look in every LR/PR thread to ever be made. That's a terrible argument.
gl with GSL3 Idra
