I love when people say this as if intelligence and ability to multitask had no genetic component.
so you are saying that idra is too stupid to understand the game? I thought his analysis was great but im probably stupid to you too. It would be hard to prove that muscle memory (cerebellum) is lacking in IdrA esp seeing how he has easily one of the best mechanics around.
Idra's "naturally talented" but isn't at a Korean level, and he also practices less than Koreans and seems to have few practice partners (the "how to play zvz" tweet). It's a combination of all 3.
it would be so great if they had a rematch with idra winning and doing a counter ceremony. could you imagine the uproar if he gave a finger wag or something to zenio? ahhh gsl3 come faster
All of this just makes me support IdrA even more lol. I think some of this hatred is coming from Koreans that are mad a foreigner is succeeding. If IdrA plays Zenio again and wins, I really hope we see some FBH parading.
Anyone else feel sad that one of the main representatives of SC2 in the west is strongly disliked by Korea? IdrA is a really cool guy in his interveiws, but the Koreans don't get to experience that. An apology from IdrA would be nice, even if it would seem a bit fake. I don't know, it just seems that if he only has a few people he knows in Korea, he shouldn't want to further disconnect himself from the rest of them.

What in IdrA's play makes you say that he doesn't practice enough? Sure, he likes that he doesn't have to grind 12 hours a day since he left CJ but it's not as if he's slacking off. If being "naturally talented" doesn't qualify as "Korean level," then please define what is "Korean level" and who satisfies this in SC2. Also, IdrA was obviously being sarcastic when he tweeted that message. I didn't think anyone would take it seriously.

Wtf is a korean level? He is more accomplished than the average korean pro gamer. I guess your implying that koreans are naturally better than foreigners at starcraft (which is blasphemy around these parts). He lost because the zvz matchup is all about all in builds and oGs team comes up with the best builds around (artosis lol).
about the hardworking and talent part, i think this interview that artosis did will explain to many of you clearly what the koreans ( and some TL-ers) means.
This is an interview with SangHo who was in Estro at the same time with Idra. He also knew NoNy and here he compared the difference between the 2 of them.
To summarize : SangHo basically said Idra was very hardworking but NoNy was the one who he thought will become an A-teamer at Estro. Why? Partly talent but mostly because NoNy trained correctly. Meaning that he dared to ask for advice and share ideas while trying to bridge the communication gap. This probably meant also that IdrA largely kept to himself and did not do what NoNy did.
This is in my opinion why Korean progamers are so good. Not only because of the training regime, but also because they improve together while staying in a house and develop strategies together.
We can see how this put Idra at a disadvantage during GSL because he even had to train on single player while Zenio obviously has his whole team to train and formulate strategies with.
I like IdrA as a player and hope he can bounce back stronger. Maybe he can try to make friends with Sen and practice together.. I doubt he can practice much with Huk and Ret cos they are going to TL-oGs and it seems that oGs-Idra relationship is beyond repair.
Well first of all, Korean netizens are world-renowned for being terrible. People commit suicide because of their comments and they just keep on doing it. They almost killed SangHo. So I'd take anything they have to say with a grain of salt.
That being said, I would be surprised if Korean players BMing each other on live TV generates any comments along the lines of "he is a rude and unwelcome piece of dog trash". Maybe one of you can find some but I have a feeling they don't exist.
I knew that interview would surface when the conversation shifted... it always does. Nony was well liked by his teamates, so of course they'd talk highly of his abilities. Also, IdrA's success (read: large improvement) came from his time in CJ and not Estro.
"Natural Ability" is code word for being a good player because nobody wants to admit that simply dedicating yourself to insane hours is how you become good. You wont find anybody at a high level in any serious competition who takes a casual mindset to it and has large success (note: I'm sure there are a few rare examples, so don't bother).
eh. i feel like OP is a bit one-sided. plenty of IdrA fans (surprisingly) in Korea as well. I, for one, know for sure i wasn't the only one shouting "IdrA hwaiting" at the studio last thursday.
but yeah, i'm not surprised to see the response from other koreans. koreans root for koreans; ironically enough, though, we never seem to be able to cooperate when shit actually matters </gripe>.
IdrA is such a nice guy in real life, though. people would love him so much if it wasn't for the.. bm...

lol. This post is so fucking stupid. No idea what else to say about it.
Indeed. Note that i did not emphasize about the talent part at all but at the "well-liked" part that you mention as well.
If you are well-liked, chances are people will want to practice with you and share their strategies with you. No? The loss against Zenio came not because he has lesser skill but as Artosis pointed out, because he did not get sufficient practice / lack of strategies.
It's ok to be a character ( or a villain as Jason lee put it), but as the comments has shown as well as Zenio's reaction, there comes a point when it becomes counter-productive. Imagine if IdrA has been more courteous towards the werra clan in the past. He might get to train with CellaWerra for example ( just an example, can be anyone) and get some cool strats, especfially since Cella is interested in foreigner sc2 scene as well.
Some of you will say, but Cella is not nearly at IdrA skill level so he won't be of much help. Well, Rainbow said his TvZ is about 10 percent on Scrap and that his build against CheckPrime was taught/developed together with Cella.
Grack definitely deserved this. I was rooting for him as a non Korean but after learning the background, I'm glad he lost this way. Calling a Korean "fucking kimchi man" in Korea... I think these responses are mild and rather civilized. Can you guys picture what would happen if he was living in Mexico and called them "beaners"? Yah...
Anyway, he's managed to earn a bad reputation in two whole different cultures. Way to go. The main problem is that, while he is an excellent player, he's not up there with the very best. Hard to root for him when there's better, more interesting players out there that aren't morons.

TSL was the very best last GSL. They were eliminated handily. I don't know what you're basing "goodness" on, but it certainly couldn't be GSL 1 results.
It's OK to not like Idra, but to claim ANYONE (not just Idra) "isn't up there with the very best," you better at least have a list of said best and get people to agree. You won't find one at this stage in SC2. Goodness isn't going to be written in stone, BW style, any time soon.

Do we even have a source on this? Or is it just a netizen comment?

GSL 1 and GSL 2 results. You can have the best mechanics or be the most hyped player but if you don't perform in the tourney with the largest pool of high level players then you have no claim. Because, you know, the best are the winners? As for TLO being the very best last season, I know what his reply would be.

TSL is a clan with members Cool, Clide, Sangho and Tester. You really don't know anything. I was not talking about TLO at all.
GSL S2 Ro8 FakeBoxeR (T) vs KyrixZenith (Z) NEXGenius (P) vs HopeTorture (T) NesTea (Z) vs oGsZenio (Z) SlayerSBoxeR (T) vs NaDa (T)
GSL S1 Ro8 LiveForever (T) vs Maka (T) Cool (Z) vs InCa (P) Tester (P) vs Rainbow (T) Ensnare (T) vs HongUn (P)
You're right, now we def have a list of the best players. Oh wait. They are completely different - ITR
Let's all live in your world where opinions are facts.

I'm pretty surprised that HopeTorture is the only person from the last Round of 8 to make it to this round of 8... (HopeTorture = Rainbow) I would have expected Cool more, and Tester, and Inca.
