I'm wondering where a good place to start learning 3s is? Cause there is no practice mode, or trials which help quite a bit. Anyways, I'm pretty much garb at the game, but it's a good alternative to bw and I want to get better. /nonsensical ramblings, tired I'd run you through the basics of 3s but you're in Canada so I'm afraid it would lag horribly. Learn the ins and outs of the mechanics first I'd say. Don't worry so much about combos because they can get infinitely complex (as far as executing them goes). Who do you play? This video has some good info in it, but it contains pretty little of value to an absolute beginner, I don't think any resource has it so you're probably going to have to grind through it anyways. 3s is like 90% experience anyways.

There's some odd mechanic where once you parry something, you automatically parry anything else within the next x amount of frames. So once you parry the first kunai, you just keep mashing forward and the game will do the work for you. With most other things, it's just about parrying the first hit and from there the timing of most anything is easy. Exceptions would be stuff like urien unblockables. You can parry out, but I've only seen it done a handful of times even at the top levels of play. I think necro can do electricity infinitely if he just keeps mashing while you parry so you never actually get out til you take the hit. Might just be the nonsuper version though. Never seen it, but that's what I was told by the only necro player I've ever met =P

Oh and ibukis daggers are mashable actually, it's mostly luck because it could differ depending on distances and such. And I think if you mash at full speed they will "cap out" at a top speed.

Yeah, I think one of the huge problems for me at the moment is that I have no one to play with atm. I used to play a decent amount of SF4 with my friends. Then you would have the dynamic of someone finding something to abuse, then coming up with something to counter that, then finding their own thing to abuse, ect. That's how I kind of learned about the game, but I find that just playing through the arcade doesn't really seem help my game much- but I probably need to build more familiarity. Also I can't play GGPO (the only online I know of) because McGill blocks TCP 7000 or whatever it is

Try supercade (.net?), or kaillera (google).Chances are you'll find someone to play with but afaik GGPO is the iccup of 3s.
