God I love this unit. I was very skeptic of infested terran at first, but this spell is fucking amazing. It has so many practical applications. Its great for harassing, good extra damage for battles, and great for tanking! Lately ive been trying to use infested terran in the same way you might use a dropship and a zealot against tanks, with mediocre results. But I have had success in getting tanks and other units to shoot the eggs before my own units.
So I played a game today against a terran, immediately frustrated that I was placed against another terran. I wanted to harass him in any way I could. I got infestors immediately and started to research upgrades for roaches, burrow, overlord drops, and worked on a 3rd. I moved 4 infestors to his natural burrowed and casted about 5 infested marines to soak up any damage that may target my infestors then I unburrowed them and fungal growthed a group of units, only to find out that just out of vision was about 5 medivacs. It was wasted mana and effort but atleast the infested terran tanked for my casters and I got away.
I was parked just outside my natural with a bushel of roaches and about 9 infestors (<3). I finished my doom drop research and had spawned about 18 zerglings to do a quick ling drop in his main only to find out that he was dropping me at the same time. I finished giving the command to do my own drop (in hopes he couldnt do 2 things at once) and then moved my own units up ot my main to protect my HIVE. But it was too late, it only took about 12 seconds literally for his drop to destroy my hive and queen. He then loaded up and tried to run away with his 9 medivacs (about 5-6 with units) before my units even got up the ramp to my own base. My frustration was high.
But then I was able to land a couple fungals which grabbed 7 medivacs, and more importantly the ones full of units... Then I spawned infested terran and they were just barely able to reach his medivacs from the edge of the cliff. I sniped about 6 medivacs. My ling drop destroyed a number of scvs and I think a few turrets.
I decided to start upgrading my 3rd base up to Hive (god) and placed down 2 more bases. Then I moved out to try and deny any 3rd he had and harass his expansion while I droned up these bases. I stopped him from making a 3rd and then thought I would try to hit his natural as I had just taken out a lot of units a moment earlier. Unfortunately its just too hard to assault a terran player. But once again I found that infestors helped out a lot. I casted about 7 infested marines from a distance and used them to soak up a lot of the hits as I stormed his natural with my roaches and infestors. I moved 2 roaches to his natural mineral line and fungal growthed his tanks, workers, and his units coming down his ramp to block him. Then I spawned more infested terran near his army and his mineral line and ran for it. Only to get away with heavy roach loss but I managed to take out a few units, tanks, and his whole natural mineral line =].
I rebuilt my army while I continued denying his 3rd, mostly thanks to infestors once again. Moments later after I had finally got my hive back and upgraded my spire for some broodlords. We met in the middle with what army he could scrap together, but it was just too late (I had a lot of banked resources and 200 food anyway at that point). Thinking back on the game I realised that infested terrans won me that game.
I should of known all along that infested terrans would be such a useful spell.
I surely made a ton of mistakes and this build isn't practiced much but here is the game:
