In the short time since we announced that StarCraft 2 would be added to the Pro Circuit, MLG has received an overwhelmingly positive response from the community. We at MLG are incredibly excited to be able to add StarCraft 2 to the Pro Circuit, and we want the inaugural Event in Raleigh to be the best possible tournament for all those involved. The 32 available passes sold out within seconds; these passes were offered to make sure that this first tournament would be accessible to newcomers and as-yet unknown talent: the players that are the heart of the MLG community, and may well be the stars of tomorrow. In the interest of producing the highest possible level of competition for everyone, we have decided to issue 32 additional invitations to the world’s best players, bringing the total number of competitors at Raleigh to 64.
StarCraft is a well-established franchise, but is a new Event on the Pro Circuit. While there are a number of players who are known as top players, MLG currently has no previous tournaments to rely on to form a ranking system. However, no StarCraft 2 tournament would be the same without them. The best way to ensure that everyone gets a fair shot, but that the current talent is not left out, is to hold an open, randomly-seeded, tournament where newcomers and veteran players alike can compete on a level playing field.
Please note that these reputation-based invitations will only be used at MLG Raleigh. All future StarCraft 2 MLG Events will use the standard MLG Pro Circuit points system. The Top 16 players to come out of Raleigh will be issued invitations to the next Event, in D.C., and the remaining passes for that Event will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
We're tremendously excited to see a number of new players make names for themselves in Raleigh, as well as feature some of the biggest names in the StarCraft community. In the coming weeks, we'll be releasing a finalized player roster for the Event. Stay tuned!

With that said, I have already taken a handful of invites out for notable players. I am extending this out to members of the community who send me a PM here on TeamLiquid.
If the PM does not fit the below format then I will not respond to it. Also, we will only be looking to invite top eight players in the Diamond 1v1 League (and I have ways to check this). This is a first come, first serve basis.
