heh. I havent been coming to this site/any gaming site lately, as two weeks ago I swore off gaming.. Basically I just really need to spend more time on the things that are important in my life (ie guitar/saxophone) and gaming took up wayy too much time in my life. If BW/WC3 wasnt in my life, I'd be the best guitarist in Canada (lol joke, but it might of been possible.. 3 hours a day into SC for 9 years and 1 hour a day into guitar, if it was 4 hours into guitar.. wow)
Anyways.. Even though I really dont want to get back into this addiction, I figured someday I am going to buy SC2, i just know it.. but for now, im pretty broke and not really interested so I was thinking of waiting afew months to get it.
Then I went to EBgames in Canada (Gamestop in the US) and they had this pretty awesome deal on trading in games.. Even though some games wern't worth much, if they were the top 150 "popular" games, they would instantly give $25 for.. I fortunately had one of these (Mariokart DS) and my brother had one he hates so let me trade it (3D heros or something for PS3??) so with both of those, I had $50 credit. Add some crappy FF game I had for DS, and down to $7.50 for SC2!
So im pretty stoked, this deal was only gonna last this week, so even though I doubt i'll even install SC2 this month, least I got it for $7.50 haha. Im fuckin surprised MarioKart DS was worth $25 in tradein! That game is soo old, but I will admit its one of the best DS games around.
Trade-ins make life great when they work out to your benefit.
Last time i wanted to trade in games at EBgames they offered like 8-9$ for a game i had bought a couple of weeks earlier (which was pretty new). Let's say i haven't traded in a single game since then
Thats the thing; How often would I play Mariokart DS again in my lifetime? MAYBE one or two hours, I already beat it and its not really a game you can play with friends (unless you got two DS's and stuff, but its better friend game on the Wii). so $25 for it tradein is pretty badass.. And that other game, my brother bought it stupidly and said he'd never play it again, so I didnt even spend money on that lol.

Eh? The effort required to get more money out selling a person's old games for more money sometimes costs more than enough time to justify trading in something, especially with good deals like this. Nothing wrong with trading in at all, except that you used to often almost always get gutted "new" games from Gamestop/EB.
But the blog title is misleading. I thought you found a deal for SC2, but it was just some trade-in.
Also yah, I know trade-ins are terrible value sometimes..
Like for my original DS, they wanted $3.. and for some FF game I had, it was 30 cents! So obviously those I kept. but $25 for Mariokart DS which is a really old game (I think I bought it two years ago for $25 lol) is pretty sweet
I paid over ten times the amount you did. 78.40 U.S. dollars from the EU Blizzard store for the digital version. If it was any other game I would be pissed as hell but knowing its the game I will be playing for the next decade I really don't care, it's cheap for the time I am going to spend on it anyway.
Trade-ins sound pretty nice imo. I know I have a lot of games I never really played after the first playthrough and don't really feel like going through the hassle of ebay etc. Too bad there's no shop here that does that. -__-
yea. Its pretty much a special deal this week only, due to SC2.. Other weeks, I woulda only got like $30 total instead of $52 total in trade ins. I feel for ya, games are expensive =[
I bought like 5 copies of SC1 over the years, so im sure I'll eventually spend more on SC2 too =[
yeah, trade-ins are awful value, but i guess if you're never going to play it again and the amount extra you'd get by selling it elsewhere isn't worth the time taken, go ahead.
This reminds me of when I wanted to trade in a ton of SNES/N64 games in like 6th grade to get a gamecube and super smash bros. Me and my brother were expecting all this money and we would be rich and get all this super kool leet gear, except when we traded it in they gave us about $1.50 a game or something.
