You usually find things in the last place you look.
Yeah. Think about it.
Sometime this year or next year I'm getting a TV or a monitor. I have absolutely no idea how I should choose what I want. If you've been happy, sad, or indifferent with your monitor, impart some of your knowledge to this poor turtle.
I'm teetering between a 24'' 1080p monitor and a 32'' 1080p tv. I'm stuck though on determining my own needs.
Right now: I don't watch tv. I do watch movies, but off of dvd players/computer. I use my computer a lot. So, for right now I should just get the monitor.
The thing is, I'm trying to predict my needs in the future. I want to really think through a purchase that, right now, is a big one for me and I want to use it till it breaks down. This year, and potentially the one after this I'll be staying in a house that has satellite tv. I'll also eventually be playing console games on here. I'm worried that if I buy a 24'' monitor now, I'll regret it and wished I'd gotten the 32'' tv. And when I move out into my own place I'm almost positive I'll enjoy a larger tv as opposed to a monitor.
I'm leaning towards the tv, time is on my side as prices go down and deals come by, but damn! If you've made a similar purchase, what did you have regrets about? What are you grateful you got?

You make lots of blogs like this...
Just choose now and swiftly, IT WILL BE FINE.
Get the TV and double it as a monitor ? How many ways do you need to stream video into your eyes at one time?
Dont most of these things double function nowdays anyway? Like, most TVs have monitor port?

I haven't made a purchase like this but it seems logical to get the TV because it can do what the monitor does, plus a little more. 32" is pretty sweet compared to 24"... so what's the deal? too expensive? I'd get the TV if i were you, you might enjoy having some background noise at times and you can still hook up your computer to it and watch stuff and play games...

yeah, the one area in my life where I actually deliberate is money and my own spending choices. I like asking for other peoples advice about this stuff.
most tv's do, but monitors don't have a tv tuner. and even then I'm still confused by my reading on the subject. but you just swayed me back towards getting a monitor.

I would get the TV, and also get a 19 inch monitor. The TV can hook up to the computer to play movies and such, and a 19 inch monitor is good for gaming. It allows you to see everyone on screen without moving your eyeball around.

Why not just place the TV far away from you such that you don't have to move eyeball too much?
I think it's about the same. However a big TV does eat a lot of power. Your next hydro bill might be a costly one.

I have a TV as a monitor and i LOVE it. It's like 26 inches and i only sit like 2.5 feet away. If i were you i'd get the TV. I have had no problems.

Somehow the thought of a guy playing with his pc while sitting good 5+ meters from the source sounds really, really wrong to me :|

it does sound strange, but it's a lot better for you than sitting right in front of it. maybe not 5 meters, but like 1-2 meters depending on the size of it.
