But I have to say it sounds really damn cheesy -- as formulaic and square as it gets, the "metal" only a veneer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lyQwhXFpG5Y This is much better. even better

Music that most people listen to is trash... and I am looking for something other then trance/techno. any idea which type of metal you want to listen to? like what type of vocals (clean or growl) fast, slower? etc anyways what got me into metal is early Metallica and Iron Maiden (yes, very mainstream, but everyone has to start somewhere), so check that out

They sound pretty good. I have only really listened to two or three Maiden songs... guess I should get into that. I am pretty much open to anything really. I just like music in general. I realize this doesn't really help you at all haha. Just trying to branch out musically. I am teaching myself guitar and I think this kind of stuff would be fun to learn/play.

You should know about Metallica, Pantera, Maiden, Ozzy, and other historically significant bands (even if they're less relevant today to a younger crowd). Lamb of God and Machine Head rock, imo. You have a lot of options. There's good and bad quality in every genre, you just have to have an open mind.

They are way more than just Run to the Hills and The Number of the Beast (overrated songs imo)

If there's a country song that sings about death that's not death metal of course... Same thing if there's death themed metalcore - it's still metalcore. This is death metal:
