Heard a lot of buzz around "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo" and "The Girl who played with Fire". Have you seen them and what's your opinion on these films? I have heard about both. I probably will end up seeing them but I haven't seen them yet.

I actually can't think of a foreign film that I've seen this year. I did see Ip Man (2008/2009) ... and it's certainly decent, especially if you are a action/martial arts fan. There are definitely some nice fight scenes. As for storyline etc, it's ok. Ip Man 2 is also out although I have not seen it. I thought the dichotomy between the man, the state of the country and the people was brilliant. In the Korean realm I have only really seen Shiri which was thought provoking. I know I will end up seeing The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo because I see inordinate amounts of Swedish stuff. I still need to see Ponyo. I pretty much love everything that Miyazaki has produced, Nausicaa being at the top. Trivia note: In the fps/rts merge Natural Selection, an entire map is dedicated to Miyazaki.

Snatch Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels or any lesser derivative of those two movies like .. Layer Cake Lucky Number Slevin Revolver

Layer Cake Lucky Number Slevin Revolver nah, i saw some of those and i was thinking more of a big hollywood action movie that is more epic. bruce willis is in lucky number slevin tho, i like him as an actor. yeah i saw this one already. i think i've seen all the action epic movies in the 2000s. maybe something in the 1990s?

It doesn't have Bruce Willis unfortunately but qualifies for all of the other requirements perfectly, so have fun! I am afraid that movie is as close as you can get.

Tonight we're watching Ronin (which I've seen but is awesome anyways!). I didnt really like Ronin, but I can appreciate why people do. Any recent post-apocalyptic movies I might not know about? I have seen Book of Eli, something like that is what I am looking for. Zombie apocalypse counts as well, but I think I have seen all the major ones there. Do you know what flavor of post apocalypse you are looking for? Book of Eli was more hopeful and progressive where there are others that are definitely commenting on human depravity. Ex) The Road Reign of Fire isn't brilliant like Book of Eli, but it is definitely a fun post apocalyptic movie. I come back to this movie every two years or so when I want a solid popcorn flick. Zombies are another can of beans altogether. I would be remiss if I didn't recommend: 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later. Funny story.... right before the OSL finals near Halloween we put 28 days later on and everyone there hated it. Fooollllsss! *shakes fist* I will admit that when I first saw it I did not really appreciate it. Sometime later I was having a conversation with a co-worker and she mentioned how she loved 28 Days Later and its social commentary on womens different abusive roles in society. The epiphany was like a slap in the face. 28 Weeks later shifts the focus away from Women (mothers) more towards Men (fathers). 28 Weeks later is in my top 10 list. It has one of the most brutal (emotional and otherwise) death scenes of all time. The tension it carries from start to finish is immense. Anything Romero past that is classic and should probably be seen for educational value. Sort of like watching Citizen Kane. On the lighter side of Zombies you have Zombie Land which has (probably) the best cameo of all time. Its a very light hearted feel-good zombie movie. Then there is the worlds only Rom-Zom-Com (Romantic Zombie Comedy) Shaun of the Dead so to sum up - epic action movie fun summer blockbuster - pumps up and inspires you - came out in the 1990s - bruce willis is in it, but i am unsure whether he lives - world bands together to stop disaster Sheesh. As far as I know there is only one movie that fits that entire description: Armageddon Deep Impact is the more mature flick over all comparatively but it doesn't have Bruce Willis. On the same genre 2012 might be up your alley, though it doesn't have Bruce Willis, and I won't spoil if it ends well or not.

but the other two movies in the series were rather bad. Yes I heard that Ocean's 12 was horrendous. Ocean's 13 had the same sort of vibe as Ocean's 11 (classy side of Vegas) but the plot didn't have the same cleverness about it.
