Just wondering, since in Phase 1 I stopped playing before they introduced the new "Diamond" league... how is the skill in diamond? Is it basically the new platinum (where the rank in your plat didn't really matter because every newb could get top 5 in the div) or does it actually mean something to be doing well in diamond?
I've started playing again for phase 2 and I got put in diamond pretty quickly and I haven't had much trouble at all yet and I'm wondering if its because people just generally aren't that good or maybe I'm decent? I haven't really gamed any top players, which is why I ask (how do the good players rate vs guys you'll find in diamond league?) ...
Anyways, I'm having quite a bit of fun with SC2 so far, going to release a replay pack soon!

You can no longer place in diamond, 5 wins give you a place in platinum and you have to play your way up to diamond. This change is probably more significant but I don`t think it changed too much anyway.

I haven't looked at all the diamond divisions but the ones I have seen are somewhat competitive. Argo echo is a beast of a division (Idra, Tester, TT1, Whitera, Strelok, Huk, Morrow, thestc, gerrard, and more). My division isn't that competitive but I can definitely see it is better then before the reset. Rank around top 3-5 now and easily topped a crappy diamond division in phase 1. If you are really good then 400-500 should be where things get interesting.

It's only whether you win or lose and who you beat. Nothing else.

then why does he go 5-0 and get placed and gold and I go 5-0 and get placed in plat?
edit: nevermind I see "And who you beat"
so like if it plays me against harder people and I still win then I go in plat but he played easier people.
Seems kinda unfair. ^_^

to get into the highest SC2 league you only need to be D on iccup really, and to get to the top of your specific division you need to be like D+

Yeah, but thats also based on who shares your division. Take Division Argo Echo for example. Here are some of the players in the top 20
Idra Strelok White-ra Morrow slush drewbie tt1 huk and many other good players not quite on the same level as those above.
The chances of being in the top 5 of that divison are slim to none lol.

They should make cross-level differences, I.E... having a ton of the top foreigners in that Argo w/e division shouldn't be an accident of chance, but it should be because they're all good. It'd be cool if Blizzard actually differentiated stuff and created some kind of global ranking so you could see where you stand.

edit: can u write a guide 2 teach us how 2 be as awesome as u Are you crazy? You think you can be as awesome as Xeris for free? I suggest you start donating money to Xeris right now. Then he could build a site where you can pay to read his guides. Only then will you be able to achieve awesomeness.

Global ranking makes more sense than anything else. Whats the point of having so many different diamond divisions anyways?

Yes, it does make more sense, but different nameless divisions inflate egos of casual players who think they are awesome, helping SC2 be more popular.

You missed Tester(oGssSKS) and GerrardPrime, two great Korean players that might be better than anyone on that list.

How do you look at other divisions?
But in my opinion, it's not about rank, it's about points (once you reach diamond atleast)
