2. Desk is a bad choice for ergonomic reasons, since your keyboard and mouse are not on the same vertical level (this would drive me insane), and since you will be looking down at the monitor unless you're extremely short. Get a simple desk (essentially just a table) with a height around what would be most comfortable to put your mouse and keyboard on. Then, get a monitor mount and put your monitor on the wall at eye level. I see waaaaaaaay too many people with that desk anyway. 3. Room layout in general is bad. We need to know the size of your room and what other furniture is going to be in there. Location of any windows is also important if you don't have really thick blinds covering them all the time. Having everything lined up against 1 wall is a bad idea and looks retarded when everything is crowded on one side of the room. For example, monitor directly below or near the poster is distracting and looks busy when you seem to be going for a more sleek look considering your desk choice. The light will be more functional if you move it to an opposite corner of the room so that it does not fuck with your monitor if your monitor is glossy. Your subwoofer will distribute sound more evenly throughout the room if located in a corner. 4. You're going to need cable management of some kind if you do stay with that glass desk, or intend to keep a "simple and clean" feel at all. Here are many good articles that can help you with this. http://lifehacker.com/search/cable management/ 5. If you haven't bought your computer case yet, a Lian-li case would fit your room theme more than your current case. Also consider multiple monitors, they're amazing. The only other problems I can see if that that lite-on keyboard is a piece of shit (I had one), and that you should probably get a higher dpi mouse. Starcraft 2 ain't like BW, you actually can use your native monitor's resolution. Edit: i just saw that you're in a dorm, some of my advice doesn't make much sense if you have roommates and shit, but it doesn't sound like this is the case. Also, I doubt they'll let your mount your monitor on the wall so try to get something to raise the height of your monitor instead (I'm not sure what to do about this, a desk attached single monitor arm would probably work best.)

Its very large, with a blue-ish glass top. Simple, sexy, and large. No keyboard tray, but I despise those. It also has a cable management satchel thing.

I have two options for room layout. One option is to put this stuff in my bedroom, which would be a very tight fit. I don't know the square foot measurements, but basically its like a medium dorm size bedroom that is meant to fit two beds and two desks. However, we are using a bunkbed to save space. The other option is to put this stuff in the living room, which basically gives me one large wall to work with since my roommates would want space too. Again, I don't know measurements, but our living room is basically a large square, I would guess 1000 sqft. I can probably take a 10-20ft chunk of one side of the wall. What do you guys think about this larger desk? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Metal-Desk-Clear-Glass-Top/14101405?findingMethod=rr It has a larger sliding tray which could fit a keyboard + mouse. which also gives me more space on top. The only thing that worries me is that the price is so low that quality might be a concern... It does have good reviews though @xmShake Good points, but there are a few things that I want to mention. I know the mouse DPI on the minioptical isn't ideal but the size, weight, and shape are absolutely perfect for me and I really don't want to replace it unless there is a better mouse with the same ergonomics. That subwoofer is a downfiring design with a forward port, it's not really designed to work in a corner or very close to a wall based on what I've read, but I will definitely give it a try anyway when I get it. Also, the case I listed is a Lian Li case so I'm a bit confused, did you mean I should get a different model? Btw, you guys have pretty much convinced me that the zen garden is a bad idea now. I'm not entirely sure what I could replace it with though (or if I should replace it at all). I really like the bonsai tree suggestion but I'm not going to get much sunshine on my desk so I don't know if I'd be able to keep it on my desk. @geometryb Do I need to change anything in my computer build to support dual screens or do I just need to buy another monitor? I've never really dealt with dual monitors before so I don't really know what it involves.

I feel like a poster doesn't make the best of torsos. Other than that, awesome robot.
