..competitive StarCraft, or any difficult games in general.
It started earlier this week, I was playing MGS4 for my Mantis Emblem Run (0 alerts, 0 continues, 0 recovery items used, and in under 5 hours. But as an extra challenge, I went in for 0 kills since I was planning to do a Big Boss Emblem Run ((Beat the game on the Boss Extreme difficulty with 0 deaths, 0 alerts, 0 kills, 0 recovery items used, 0 special items used, and in under 5 hours). Mantis run was easy since I could use the stealth camo (100% camo everywhere even when shooting, does not hide body heat). Then for warm up I decided to do a Fox Hound Emblem Run ((Beat the game on Big Boss hard or higher with 0 deaths, 3 alerts or fewer, 0 kills, 0 recovery items used, 0 special items used, and in under 5.5 hours) and it would also wing me the Fox Emblem.
So I started, and it was really challenging since the guards can hear, see, and sense better - I had to retry CQC'ing a guard around 3 times just to avoid getting an alert, and I also had to put his body inside a locker since if someone sees him, the guards would search everywhere for an intruder (namely you). Also, tranq rounds and emotive ammo (bullets that make the enemy cry, rage, laugh, scream) would have to hit the head for instant effect - anything less might result in a Caution phase and there'd be more guys to deal with. Act 1 was pretty easy, spamming stun grenades on the FROG soldiers in the part where you meet Meril was fun. I finished Act 1 a little over an hour, which was pretty good since I only needed to finish the game under 5.5 hours (cutscene's - some of which are not skipable *ehem credits*, pauses, and not pressing start when prompted to counted). Act 2 was the tough one. I didn't expect to take long enough there, after defeating Laughing Octopus, I clocked in 2 hours 25 minutes already, and no, beating the Octopus was just 70-80% of it. Theoretically, an act should only take an hour since the credits take around 20~30 minutes tops (it felt that long). After seeing that I pulled out MGS and played AC2, started to finish the side quests.
Later that day, I decided to play StarCraft again. As usual most of the games are played on python, though Fighting Spirit it starting to be "famous". I played 3 games and lost 2, I played all Protoss match ups. I first played a PvZ on HBR where I got horribly raped by a drop after I forgot to get a good amount of templars. Next was a PvP on Destination, I won, because he was bad - leaving after a reaver drop (though I think his reaver raped my probes at my min only). Then a PvT on Python. My third was denied for the longest time after I suicided my first army and my reaver for nothing.
It's not losing that makes me sad, it's the frustration of playing like shit. Hell, it's ok for me to lose as long as I gave a lot for that game.
Oh well, I finished most of what there is to finish on Assassins Creed 2, had some good fun. Maybe I'll go back to play MGS4 later, just go play it for fun, killing people left and right, for fun. Then when Sony releases a new update (not the risky 3.30 one), I'll play Call of Duty 4 online again (anyone here plays too?). Even if there's still competitive spirit in me, I think I won't be able to play competitive StarCraft again.
Anyone else know a good low level/casual game (relative to competitive SC) for pc/ps3? I heard StarCraft II was nice.

yeah you could easily go diamond on sc2. that should be a real confidence booster.

Red Dead Redemption for Ps3 is a really fun yet really chill game.
You play as a cowboy and you can hunt animals, kill or capture criminals, save townsfolk, or be an asshole and lasso people and drag them from your horse. The single player is sort of like GTA 4 except without bullshit missions like online dating and picking people up and dropping them off places.

Let's 4v4 in sc2! Oh wait, you aren't in the Us server. >.< Anywho, having the drive to play the game often fades and comes to me, depending on my current situation with life and how consistently bored I get, as well as other factors. You may or may not become interested in it again. When you are looking for casual games, are they single player or multiplayer? I had a BLAST playing Mass Effect 1 + 2 if you are into that kind of nerdy thing (you know, the usual bioware stuffs).

Just take a break from anything frustrating in general. Come back and you'll feel better.

I was wondering why you didn't join Alienware MPGL-SC Online S1.
I think the problem is you have been playing on the same old maps such as HBR and Python. You may haven't heard the news yet but the Philippine SC vets are returning because of the recent success of MPGL-SC. In my opinion, I think the new map pool reinvigorated their spirits (maps being Fighting Spirit, Match Point, Tornado and Moon Glaive).
If you want to know the results of the finals: + Show Spoiler +eXo.BLaZeR 3:2 eXo.EnDerr

What about playing SC:BW casually on iccup or bnet is competitive? Regardless of your rank you're not playing for anything but pride -_-
Maybe if you use the literal definition of competitive meaning absolutely no games vs other players...

And I was too lazy to ask for games over at iCCup so I just join whatever is available over at the "Join" list...
and looking back at it, I was a bit depressed for some reason that day so I played like crap....maybe I'll go try again tonight.

dont give up on brood war...get someone to show you what ur doing wrong...you can play an easier game but you won't find the strategic depth you find in brood war in many other games.

Hmmm...I might join sooner or later with a different id or something, I hope the Mineski guys forgot the badmouthing I gave them when they started out sending guys to play sc...seeing how most of them play is more than enough to make me take back what I said..
