So, you're in the store, about to buy something with cash. Cashier rings up $13.64 and you look in your wallet to see a $20 bill. Easy right?
You give the $20 bill, the cashier rumbles around, pulls out a $5 bill, on top of it puts a loonie, 3 dimes and 6 pennies, then extends her hand to you.
WHAT DO YOU DO?
This has been bugging me since I dont know how long.
Option A: Take the coins, put them in your coin wallet area (leaving the cashier standing there like an idiot with the $5), then take the $5 and put it in your bill wallet area
Option B: Take bill/coins at once, put the bill down on counter and repeat above
Option C: Take bill/coins at once, Use other hand holding the wallet to separate the bill then put the coins in
Poll: What do you do?Other (19) 66% Option C (7) 24% Option B (3) 10% Option A (0) 0% 29 total votes Your vote: What do you do? (Vote): Option A (Vote): Option B (Vote): Option C (Vote): Other

I shove them all in my pocket and sort them out when I get home
|
Had to google "loonie". Anyway, whenever I pay in cash, I just take it all and stuff it in my pocket. I sort it out when I get outside or to my vehicle. I've worked as cashier before, and not that it is greatly influences my decision, I realize that it is an embarrassing job for many. I don't see the point in holding the line, mostly.

had to look up what a "loonie" was although I kinda guessed from context
stop speaking Canadian t.t
I guess I would take them all at once and take out my wallet with other hand.

If your wallet has a coin pocket, have it open while the cashier calculates, hold wallet in left hand. Cashier will probably do one of three things:
1. give you coins first, bills second. 2. give you bills first, coins second. 3. give you coins on top of the bills.
If 1, quickly use right hand to drop coins into open coin pocket in left hand, accept bills with right hand, walk out as you put bills in wallet.
If 2, hold the bills in right hand, accept coins in right hand on top of bills, slide the coins into your coin pocket, walk out as you put bills in wallet.
If 3, same as the latter half of #2.
Or, you can be like most of us and just stuff everything in a pocket.

Other: move to USA, never say loonie again

Same here. Though I never did the thing with pennies, I like this build order, I think I'll copy it!

I put everything in my wallet.

This is what I do. I take everything, then pour it into my wallet. The bill stays in your hand because of friction, but the coins don't. The coins end up in the coins compartment, and then you insert the bill.

I would definitely count it twice then ask "wait, how much you said it was?"
Does anyone really use coin pockets in wallets besides old hags?

wallet(bill fold) in left hand open for bills to be inserted, i let the cashier place the bill(s) with the coins on top onto my right hand. I grasp the bill(s) with my left hand letting the coins slide into my right palm which will pocket the coins. Once my right hand has finished pocketing the coins I then grab the bill(s) from my left hand and firmly slide the bill(s) into the wallet. All of this is done with my wallet never leaving my left hand.
Im sure if your right handed you can just do the opposite of what i just said Edit: Oh yea and wtf I never understood having a bill fold with a coin purse.....what are pockets for?

I've always just grabbed the bill and coins with one hand, let all the coins fall into my other hand, which I then stuff into a pocket, then put the bills into my wallet. But why put the coins on top of the bills? Just awkward imo.

I'll jus put the coins in the bills compartment and separate it later when im free
