So once again I find myself in the middle of another crazy nostalgia attack. This happens a lot to me actually. Every now and then I'll be reminded of some old game, tvshow, or movie that I loved when I was younger. My nostalgia will grow until I go nuts searching for it and relive that old experience.
Once I found myself painstakingly searching the entire internet for the old TV show "Space Cases," which I loved when I was a kid. Another time I was googling the crap out of "The Littl' Bits", which was probably my absolute favorite show when I was 5 or 6. Digital copies of the show were non existent, but I managed to get in touch with another girl some thousand miles away who had an old VHS containing 5 episodes, and she was able to burn them onto a DVD and send it to me. How awesome was that? Yet another time I felt the need to re-watch the entirety of season one of Sailor Moon, which conveniently is entirely on youtube, lol. Made that one easy. Every few years I have to go back and play through the original Command and Conquer games. They're just that awesome.
However my most recent nostalgia attack is not just with an old game, but with its entire world. I've recently become re-obsessed with the Myth series of games. Myth: The Fallen Lords, Myth II: Soulblighter, and Myth III: The Wolf Age. I have never played any games in my life with a better and more rewarding single player experience. No game has actually made me feel like a part of the world, gotten me really wrapped up in the story, or caring about the fate of my soldiers.
I sometimes enjoy the story of a game, but never to this extent. I find myself reading and re-reading the fluff, googling more and more background and world information, and playing through my favorite missions again and again. Almost daydreaming about the fantastic world that's just really captured my imagination. I even wrote fanfiction taking place in the Myth world. I've never done anything like that before, LOL. And I find myself wanting to write another story, and ideas are already swimming around in my head. I almost think I'm a bit loony, hehe.
But seriously, I just felt the need to rant and get that out of my system. Really just had to gush there for a second. What an awesome series. I'm gonna re-install all of them and play through them I'm sure, but for now I've regained enough sanity to play some more SC2. ^.^;

mod edit: you don't need to quote the op haha

I also get occassional nostalgia attacks, but then when i find the game i want to play i get bored after 5-10 minutes :l

Oh, myth the fallen lords! I remember playing it on a 133 mhz with 3dfx and 48 mb ram or smt. The battle positioning system was awesome too, with formations and orientation and everything. I found it really hard however, I couldn't get past level 4 or 5 or something. A very small ice level I thought, with a big unbeatable boss or something..

Fuck thanks you caused a long overdue Jagged Alliance 2 nostalgia attack to break out. Brb torrenting.

All i remember about Myth 2 is this:

Everytime I have a "nostalgia attack" as mentioned, I'll go back and download it, and then I am extremely dissapointed shortly thereafter. Is everything I loved as a kid so lame?

Haha, with most of my old childhood memories, they end up being bad. But the Myth series never disappoints! ^.^
I couldn't believe how bad Sailor Moon was when I watched it again. That was like my absolute favorite show in middle school o.o;
