Wait, you take advantage of their system and they're the douches for black listing you? I agree gamestop sucks but I don't think your story is the way to convince people of it. just a general advice to OP for his consequences. how is it not douche to just unban me to make a honest purchase again? its not like i cant get a different credit card, change address or go to another online retailer or local GS. dont want to go any further. Just to clarify, I'm not the same guy who posted on the first page of this thread calling GS douches for blacklisting -- my credit card was never banned because I used multiple cards and different addresses. On your question, if you really want it that badly, go to a GS location near you and pre-order it in person with cash to a different address. Not really rocket science buddy. just to clarify as well before ppl think i was beta-key less, i have a sc2 account since 2nd batch. (i went to blizzcon, not a random Opt in-er)
the shit i pulled with GS was 2009 they made a price mistake on their system and games i abused it by ordering a lot of it.
and "dont want to go any further" = end of my discussion, not bum attempts of getting keys.
sorry about the confusion.

Seriously, all these people saying its pretty much open beta. I still don't have a key :D But this exploit seems pretty silly. They must have messed up pretty bad to allow it lol.

I figured this out day one but couldn't be bothered to reorder it. I got my key, I'm getting my CE, I'm happy.
Theres over 20k people on the US server at any given time, so I could care less about having more keys.

I work for Gamestop. We printed out a sticker with a certain barcode and stuck it to the side of the cash register, and every time you zap it and hit total it prints out a Starcraft 2 beta key. I gave out nine of them today.
You can also always get that $5 preorder money back whenever you ask. And you can get as many beta keys as you'd like for a $5 refundable deposit apiece. They're essentially giving out free keys already just to get people into the store. And it's working - I was comparing our numbers to last year's and we did almost double the business today. A bunch of folks brought in used games to trade towards SC2 preorders. And we tripled our normal reserve targets.
I'd be surprised if anyone at corporate or Blizzard cared if anyone was gaming the system to get extra beta keys. What are you going to do, give them out to all your friends and do free viral marketing for Blizzard? Oh no! Anything but that!

You're right, you are if you are tenpromicro on SC2, then you definitely unpaused a game before I got when I was only gone for a minute; mind you that doesnt matter, you unpaused literally 10 seconds after.
Hey buddy want me to post that replay? I am NEVER BM during games I win, I consider it BM if you clearly lost the game and you just delay the finish by pausing it. You lost your FE and decided to tech while I tripled your lings. You "pause" when my lings come to jizz on your base. Please kid.

well i mostly agree. BUT i had a conversation with a friend last night about sc2 beta. he really is no rts player (works at a gaming magazin where he got the key) but he would love to get a little more into it. he even ready tl.net every other week.
he said to me that watching the tourneys already is more interesting than playing the beta. just because the most people that are staying in the beta already have a lot blizzard rts experience. he just doesn't see land against very most of his enemies because he keeps getting matched with top leagues when he is bronze (i think ... may be that he even is copper).
i told him that with the release this should improve alot (like it did in war3). he still is already kinda repelled from the game ...
meh ...
/edit: what i wanted to say is, that you shouldn't underestimate the quantity of noobs that will get negative experiences in the beta because of how match making is done there.

I actually did the same thing to get a betakey, by mistake tho I preordered from US, couldn't wait to get a key anymore, and that extra 30$ for the shipping and VAT, seemed to be worth it. then 1 hour later I find out that blockbuster DK is giving away betakeys with preorders, so ofc I preorder there, cause of the way lower cost.... so, since I haven't gotten my betakey from GS yet, I assume I can cancel it (yes, you can't cancel once you get the code, at least that's what they say)... I send a mail, canceling it, but a few hours later I get my key anyways... screw that I think, and use the code with my acc... AND cancel blockbuster... then the next morning a mail from GS come, and they canceled my order... like... wtf :O
so now I got a betakey and no preorders... lucky me

Well... since its SO easy to get a beta key and its practically OPEN BETA for a lot of you (as you claim) and you are swimming in keys, maybe some1 can get 1 for me, just pull it out of a sock or something, since its impossible to get one in Serbia or Romania as a mere mortal, k, thx...

perhaps asking in a more polite manner will help you achieve your goal?

pls dump one of your spare keys on me
|
I'm sad too see that as I'm desesperately trying to get a key. And no I can't get a key by pre-ordering in my country.
|
there's not a limit on beta keys... it's a computer generated code. If you want 10 then hell, go ahead and get 10. I'll just stick with 1 because I don't want 10, and I also don't really feel like being banned from gamestop. Why on earth would I want 10 keys?
|
Wow. This is overwhelming. Here I am trying my desperate best to get randomly picked in some random contests out there but still key-less after so many attempts. Opt-in? I've been in since day 1, but lady luck must have deserted me, I guess.
Before you guys go "JUST PD, NOOB" me, let me clarify that I do want to pre-order but with Blizz not finalizing on their region lock issue, I don't want to end up with a US region SC2 while all my friends were happily pwning each another in the just-announced SEA region. If Blizz would just announce "You can buy it from US & register it in the SEA region", I would have been the very first to PD it right away, from Amazon / GS or whatever retail shops that provide international shipping.
Open beta eh? Maybe for you guys from US / Europe / Aus but definitely not for some of us out here. If it's indeed as open as you guys claimed it to be, I would really appreciate it if one of you can dump me your unused-yet-not-sure-who-to-give-to SC2 beta key to me.

A friend of mine was trying the same, he got 1 beta key then it stopped working. There's also a problem with it, once you receive a betakey you cannot cancel the order anymore. So either this is flawed and there's a bug allowing you to cancel anyway, or this is simply not true :D

i preordered and never got a key from gamestop
