Such vicious little things, rumors.
Proleague Round 4 has started with a few little changes...
http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=118849 http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=118744
The lineups aren't announced until right before the match begins, while high profile players UpMagic and Luxury have been dropped from the starting lineups.
The rumor? Match fixing.
Gambling on anything, including sports is heavily controlled in Korea, and is illegal in most cases. This doesn't stop people from gambling however, on a bunch of shady, illegal websites (or so they say).
A player might decide to bet against himself on several sites and take a dive...
Supposed postings on these gamblings websites suggest that Yarnc and Luxury are players to be betted on at your own risk, because their losses are... suspicious?
Another anecdote says one of these gambling sites suddenly closed all bets on this game before it began, smelling something fishy.
Of course, all just rumors.
But men love to gamble, and men love easy money, so would it really be a surprise if it were true? Disappointing, but not a surprise.

I always thought that Yarnc and Lux have been sucking for the longest time... it would make sense in a sad way if it were true
but ima believerrrr... i'd like to think the players are clean :>

ahhh these are the kinds of rumors I love to hear.
This kind of thing was apparently a pretty common deal in baseball in the days when professionals made very little money, but I guess after that world series was fixed they spent a lot of time clamping down on it (unsure why it stopped actually, I'm not well read on it at all).
its certainly something we all suspect at one time or another, I don't think many people would be shocked at all if some hard evidence was found.

i've always believed that there is match fixing, cheating, and other stuff though never really found any proof
throughout gaming history, people have chosen to cheat in so many ways to gain edges, even kids like testie would hack just so that they could feel better about themselves and be king of the internet
are we really naive enough to believe that everyone would be honorable in the platform with the most at stake?

Well they need that anma money (learned that from Rekrul )

cool stuff, love esports drama

There's tons of corruption in pretty much all sports, wouldn't surprise me if there's some in sc as long as it's profitable enough to do it

the rekrul effect outshines even mod posts
|
bah this is what spiked rekrul to go searching
|
This brings the question...did Rekrul bribed IdrA to lose on purpose in the TSL...
+ Show Spoiler +

Though there's no concrete proof just yet (read: actual news), this thing just keeps getting worse and worse. How many slumps and blown builds have been cover ups? D:

Seeing as rekrul thread does not deliver, this deserves to be bumped.

This post in the Rekrul thread is pretty relevant:

The last underlined bit talks about Bisu in that they think Bisu's matches that day also seemed a bit more rigged, but The Bogus - Savior game was something they actually got a report on. Second Image: Someone just talking about the logistics of it. Third Image: Someone posting that "Police are finally taking action" against Starcraft Betting Fourth Image: The Cafe Staff warning about Betting in games by UpMaGic, YellOw[ArnC], Luxury, because "everyone knows" there are forces behind planning their games.

Agreed.
Am I the only one that has had a bad feeling about Yarnc and Lux for the past LONG while? I remember Lux doing well in his solo leagues for a long time, then doing all-in builds 99% of the time in proleague, usually losing. Also, Yarnc's consistency and skill just dropped off the charts after a sustained period of good play. Could be their poor play and all-in style just makes me biased against them.
Just imagine the in-house dynamics going on within teams? How do you feel if you find out one of your teammates has been rigging matches in proleague? Betrayed, that's how.

I just want to see a match where both players have bet on each other. That ought to be hilarious.

jaehoon vs. rock?

I've always found it weird that sangho's play varied so much.
Even if it is true, I just hope UpMagiC wasn't doing it.
