“Did someone page me?” A soft but firm voice penetrated the troops. Even though the voice was soft, it still reverberated in the surrounding clatter…it is a woman’s voice…
There were rumors of some new female medical units, and when they actually appeared, they immediately grabbed the attention of all the Marines…A body of white armor is unable to conceal the shapely forms underneath. Even though the heavy helmets covered up their long hair, their eyes and lips with a hint of lipstick can still be seen.
The feminine charm, combined with the combat armor, radiated even more appeal, and caused the thoughts of many a young Marine to wander. Marines, long deprived of any female contact, looked and chattered at each other, and occasionally a lecherous chuckle can be heard.
“Ah! I’m hurt, I need you! Come on, Babe, heal me! I’m ever so hurt!” A Marine sleazily said, exaggerating his facial expressions to one contorted in pain. The other Marines emitted raucous laughter and joined in. “Yea, heal him, Babe, hurry! He’s about to die!”
Under the X-ray like gazes of the entire squad, she silently made her way to the hurt Marine.
Despite his sleazy joking, he is indeed very hurt. One more shot probably would’ve finished him. She took out her instruments with an air of confidence, and began what she practiced countless times in school. His wounds slowly began to heal. The hurt Marine stared at his wounds in amazement as they magically disappeared and his body restored itself. His sleazy expression was slowly replaced by one of serious amazement.
“Please don’t call me ‘Babe.’ I’m a professional; call me ‘Medic’ please.” She coldly addressed the crowd, with a stern look of professionalism. “Now, is anyone else hurt?”

As a part of the main force, the Medic moved out towards the enemy natural expansion.
“Hey, Babe, don’t be afraid. The enemy may be ugly, but I’m here for you! Just stay behind me and I’ll protect you – my aim is top-notch, one shot-one kill guaranteed!”
“Pfft, don’t listen to him, last time we went out he almost got killed by two Zerglings. Follow me instead, Babe, and when we win, we can go back and get married…”
“No, Babe, follow me! I’ll do anything for you…”
“Babe, Babe!...”
Unlike the usual atmosphere of fear and apprehension, today’s Marines were exuberant, like kids on a field trip. Laughing and joking, they surrounded the Medic.
The Medic didn’t say a word, and didn’t look anyone in the eye. Instead, she looked around – the cliffs, the black edges, possible ambush positions – she is constantly alert, prepared at a moment’s notice to heal the troops.
The only other silent ones are the few Firebats also in the troop. Even though they joined at the same time as the Medic, they received little attention. The general consensus among the Marines is – useless units who can’t attack air units. The Firebats led the way, and glanced at the ground ahead with sharp alertness.

“AMBUSH!” the Medic yelled, as two squads of burrowed Zerglings emerged. The Marines were immediately thrown into chaos, and shot wildly in the air. The Zerglings began their assault.
“Remain calm everyone! Maintain formation, and aim before you shoot!” The Medic directed in the chaos. Against the vicious assault, she stood steadfastly in the midst of the troops, healing as she shouted instructions. With her help, the Marines seemed invincible – no damages seemed permanent. Despite the initial disarray, they quickly got in control of the situation. The only sound became those of dying Zerglings, as the Terran troops emerged without even a scratch.
The usually fragile Marines never imagined that they would suddenly become this powerful – all thanks to the Medic.
“Wow, Babe, you’re amazing!” Even though they already respected the Medic, the nickname stuck.
The Medic was not amused, and made an frown: “Please don’t call be ‘Babe,’ I –”
“MUTALISK ASSAULT!” a deep booming voice yelled – the Firebats remained alert during the post-fight celebration. But the troops are already confined in a narrow valley as the Mutalisks rained down explosive creatures that began to heavily damage the troops.
“Use your Stim Packs, shoot them down!” The Medic resumed directing the Marines.
“Stim Packs…come with side effects…we’ll…” The Marines began hesitating – they had all seen fellow ‘rines Stim Pack themselves to death…the side effects were devastating…
“Just do it! I’m here for you! Do you all want to die here?!” The Medic’s voice rose a few decibels, and her stern directions carried itself with an air of authority.
Trying their best to ignore the pain, the Marines injected themselves with Stim Packs. Suddenly, power and force permeated their bodies to the point that they felt like they were going to explode. They began shooting in a frenzy.
The Medic remained calm and cool as she continued her healing.
“Medic, watch out!” As everyone’s attention was focused at the foes in the sky, another squad of Zerglings began assaulting. Their objective was clear – to eliminate the crucial Medic. The continuously alert Firebats, however, are already positioned in front of the Medic. The incoming Zerglings erupted into flames as the Firebats unleashed their burning inferno.
The ferocious battle ends. A complete Terran victory.
“Wow, Ms. Medic, you’re just amazing! You essentially won that battle for us” the two Firebats turned around and complimented the Medic.
The Medic took of her helmet, and breathed deeply. Her long hair poured out like a waterfall, drenched with the sweat of battle.
Unlike her usual stern self, the Medic threw out a cute glance, and suggestively said “Don’t call me Medic…I’m a ‘babe’…”

T/N In Chinese, Medics are colloquially referred to as "MM," stands for 美媚 (Mei-mei) which is equivalent to the English "babe." So throughout the story they are using the Medic's "common name."
