Was bored, and decided to look through my old 'games' basket.
Then guess what I found.
I held the game box firm, and memories flew by. I bought this game because I read so much about it in magazines. I don't know when it was, either 1999 or 2000. I was a kid then, that was for sure. I don't know how I got my parents to buy me FFVII, it was $50. Maybe my brother put a good word for it.
Funnily enough for my 9th birthday my brother bought me FFIX and a scooter, FFIX was the first FF game I ever played through by myself, and thus, one of my most favourite games. Enough of that anyway.
But I played it.... then you hit the brain block. I was stuck in Midgar, trying to escape. Left the game for a while, then came back. Figured out that you could press select to show exits and there was a stupid path. Wow.
Then I left the game after finding Gi in Cosmo Canyon impossible. After acquiring the so called 'internet', I found out you could defeat him using a simple item like a Tent or Phoenix Down. I felt disheartened. I nether the less played through the rest of the game, but looking back in hindsight, felt that I cheated my way through.
Now I will play it again, maybe memories will flock back to me and I'll become all wiggly and jiggly.
First of all, that game is platinum version, which means it didn't cost $50.
I have been fan of FF series for so long ! They sell this game on PS3 PSStore for harddrive. I am gonna buy this soon and play it again, so good game omg :O.

That's what a PS2 is for. =D
Lol I have a PS2. But I shattered my tv a few months ago so no console games for me .
Funny that this topic should come up now. my story is similar in some ways... I got it when it first came out, but had absolutely no idea what I was doing. Was the first RPG I ever played, and had absolutely no concept of materia/levelling etc. So me being the impatient kid I was just ran from ever random encounter as I just wanted to get on with it. The further in to the game I got the more seriously underlevelled I was until it actually became a necessity to run from battles. Like you I got stuck at the boss in the cave of the gi and gave up. Now years later I bought another copy off ebay, for old times sake. I was determined to beat it this time. That was a couple months ago, and I'm now on the verge of completing it. Just beat the emerald weapon earlier, have just got the ruby weapon and sephiroth to go and I'll have finally done it \o/
I wasn't sure if it would have aged well, but I still think it's awesome. One of the best games ever.
I've managed to get my hands on FF8+9 too now. So guess it's a bit of a Final Fantasy marathon.

Hey, 007 Goldeneye made the n64 worth it. That right there is the best memories playing video games as a kid. That and Nintendo's Tecmo Bowl.

I was fortunate to have brothers into video games, thus I had both a N64 and a PSX. Unfortunately as they moved out of the house, I couldn't influence my parents for a new console. Thus I still have a PS2 :3

Yeah Goldeneye was awesome. My friends all thought the shotgun was better than the RPC90. LOL. I dominated that game as you can probably guess. And Tecmo Bowl is awesome! You should check out the updated hacked roms for NFL, NCAA, XFL, etc. The game is still awesome today.
I actually remember buying that game. I was like..9 or 10, and in the mall. Me and my parents went into some random store that didn't even have anything to do with video games, and I saw this giant PC game package of FF7 for 10 bucks and was like..I guess this looks cool. I didn't know diddly shit on what to do or play but luckily I had a nerd friend who had already beaten it and he basically showed/did everything for me. The amazing thing is..I looked on amazon earlier at the price and it's like..50 dollars for used 100 new? Thats so nutty. Maybe it isnt THAT much but..I see a lot of old games like for dreamcast and that I owned are all 50-100 dollars now or more. Makes me feel like an old man.

I was browsing youtube for random shit, and I watched a video of a flash animation... a parody of Ocarina of Time, to be exact. I'm going to dig up my N64 and the cartridge and play it now...
FFVII ftw! Definitely my favorite game of all time. Fanatstic storyline, great battle system, awesome cutscene graphics (for its time). Such a winning game.
So as a followup to my previous post, I just completed the game \o/ Only took me 12(?) years or so! I recently heard about crisis core, seeing as I loved final fantasy 7 I was thinking of giving that a try. Anyone here played it? It any good?
