I strongly reccomend it it helps me every time, give it a go! I also have a pretty severe cold these days I find that an air humidifier can work wonders, because Seoul winters are so dry compared to the UK/Ireland, messes up our noses :X

And keep getting adequate protein intake. This is definitely not a scientific way of evaluating anything, but when I've kept up protein intake (in addition to doing everything else as suggested,) I recover pretty quickly. Not much point in using any treatments for an illness if you're not even eating what you need for basic metabolic functions.

Remember when you were told as a kid to drink lots of water? I've always tried to drink more than usual when I have a cold. What they meant though, was to drink LOTS of water. I sat with a drink bottle beside me. I drank it down normally, as one might drink a glass of water. After it had emptied, I went and filled the bottle up again. Almost immediately, I felt thirsty again, so I started on the second bottle. Went through about 6 litres of water in a couple hours. Had to go to the toilet a lot of course. Next morning I woke up, after feeling absolutely horrendous the entire previous day, feeling much better. Probably a combination of factors that all helped in the end. Do try it though, it will help you (if not as much as it seemed to help me). Hope you get well soon.

Vitamin D upregulates cathelicidin and defensins which are anti-microbial peptides. AMPs protect against and help fight bacteria and viruses. Also, vitD increases T lymphocyte activity. edit: largest study to date: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19237723 Vitamin C does nothing for colds. That's a myth. It boggles my mind how anyone can think an anti-oxidant can improve the immune system.... and there's ZERO research that shows vitC protects against or improves colds or the flu. (btw, doubters -- google and pubmed) Combine vitamin D with lots of sleeping and you'll be healed in no time. Take a multi-vitamin as well just in case your body is lacking other deficient minerals.
