Instead of my health getting better during hiatus over the past two days it's actually gotten much worse. I basically cannot stay off work because I will be charged out my salary for the lessons I miss. So does anyone have any recommendations for the following;

~ Combatting an epic cold?
~ Staying sickness free in general during very cold weather?

I know most of it is common sense, but any additional remedies and prevention techniques would be appreciated. (Especially things like vitamin combinations and other foods to defend against illness.)

[EDIT] I forgot to add - drugs are out of the question since I don't speak enough Korean to communicate my allergies to the pharmacy. Also I don't have access to recognizable over the counter brands. Sadly rest is also not an option due to my job. (But the weekend approaches!)

Oh Thats too bad..

I have no more advice than the typical grandmother one: Eat a lot of chicken soup.

Hope you get well soon! Best of luck!

Drink fluids, get enough sleep every night and get flu vaccinations if you haven't already.

Drink lots of fluids, get lots of rest, and don't forget to eat well, even though you may have no appetite. Take your favorite fever-reducer (children's Motrin is absolutely delicious, though you might need to eat a lot of if given you're not a child ) and basically take a break from life.

The last one is a tad tricky since we don't have them here in Korea as far as I'm aware. Also I'm allergic to a lot of medicines so I don't want to risk relying on drugs. I do need way more sleep though; four-five hours isn't cutting it during Winter.

Four/five hours isn't close to what you need.

Last time I had the flu I found myself in bed for ten+ hours a day.

And I'm surprised Korea doesn't have flu vaccinations...not that they're going to help you since you already have the flu.

I haven't taken multivitamins and I haven't been sick since either.

Anecdotal evidence from one source means nothing.

That being said, you should definitely take some vitamins.

Sounds like it sucks for you then. Without OTC remedies or medicine of any kind you can't exactly just will a cold away. Learn korean.

hai neverGG <3 im sick too i hope u get better soon. here are my 2 cents...
i dont wanna recommend drugs after reading that ur allergic to some, but if u have congestion (which I HATE HAVING) look for a product by the name of Rynatan D. its so good, its a liquid kind of gel that u apply in your nostrils and it makes the congestion go away completely for a few minutes. which is SUCH A RELIEF ugh im gonna put some on right now lol
also, u could try looking for Redoxon vitamin C. its like this capsule that u dissolve in a glass of water or watever and it tastes really yummy its like drinking fanta but its actually vitamin lol
OH and u gotta have this:

vaporub. its awesome. u can apply it anywhere, chest, nostrils, back, feet, and it will keep you from getting a cold. at least thats what my dad used to claim!!!!
hope that helped. FEEL BETTER!!!!!

EDIT: i just saw your edit LOL. here are pictures of the things i recommended so u can print them, point and say "THIS PLEASE" lol idk...just trying to be helpful

How are ingredients listed on OTC medications in korea? I'd presume they use english for chemical names and stuff, so you could look for something with dextromethorphan for coughing, and diphenhydramine for sneezing.

Drink tea+honey, eat soup; take vit C, vitamins in general; eat raw garlic, ginger. Oregano oil can help with some of the symptoms like coughing, runny nose.
You will smell, unfortunately

1. Vinegar (solutions in water or used to flavor your soup) can help soothe some symptoms.
2. Exercise if you can. It boosts your immune system, but be careful about your sweat. >_>
