Current Rank: D+ [2458] 38 - 52
Most used map: (4)Python 36-48
Games played:: 91 (42% win ratio)
I've gone 10-12 since my last Fuckin ICCup blog. Interestingly enough, I have practically stayed perfectly consistent with my win ratio - climbing only 1% (from 41% to 42%).
For the most part, I've been choosing aggressive builds to get myself ahead. For my TvP games I've been using 2factVult. This build is very devastating when used correctly. The timing is perfect for dictating the game's flow. I grant myself great opportunities using this build that has the potential of putting Protoss behind.
As for TvZ, I've been using a lot of 2rax builds that either transition into a sunken break or simply expand to the natural. TvZ comes natural to me for some reason. Either that, or the Zerg I have been playing were sub-par. I've also been messing around with my lovely Valkyrie builds. They've been very on and off. I havent really identified what makes the build work (for me personally) so its been a long road a walking.

seriously if you want to get better, and have an easier time taking down the protoss monster- play a different map than python for christ sakes. Just don't play desti and go mech vs zerg. Other than that you should be good

For going 2fact vult TvP and sunkbreaks TvZ, I have to say that you might want to try out Protoss.

I'm in the same boat -a better option though would probably be to play more straight up instead if getting cheese wins that won't do much for you.

Those are not cheese o.O Since when did aggressive builds become cheese? Not all games have to last 40 minutes.
2shopvults are great against P on 4 player maps, if he goes fast expand you can end the game right there and if not you get probekills and mapcontrol with mines and expand at the same time so you will almost never get economically behind. With 2shops you can also quickly get siege and tanks if he goes for proxy/ fast goon pressure. Great build in TvT too. I´ve been doing fast tank builds in TvZ but a bit too risky IMO, you can get raped badly by fast muta and hydra builds or then I´m not doing it right. I also do 1rax FE against Z on maps where you can make atleast somekinda wall/simcity. Then you can be aggressive from 2base without turtling too much.
And you should try other maps too, I suggest you learn atleast 1-2 4player macromaps and 1-2 two- or threeplayer maps. It´s fun to see what you can get away with in different maps. Tornado, Fighting Spirit, Match Point, Outsider and El Nino are my favourites.

The advantage of playing 'straight up' games is that it lets you work on various aspects of your game. Such as macro, micro, game sense, timings, etc.
Yes, playing aggressive builds can help you build those up too, but imo, you won't be as solid player should you've stuck to a standard BO.
What will you do when you play vs a P or a Z that can stop your rushes with no problem? Because it will happen.

Python is really good for practising strong 2 base pushes against protoss. Just don't try to "Flash style" it except on certain positions or with islands.

Why not play a better map than Python?
|
python is a basic map that allows me to focus on specific parts of my game. My problem in TvP (where i end up behind) is when I engage Protoss. I feel that since Terran is at a disadvantage with the huge, open battlefield I can learn to position my units better and help my game overall in that area.
2 fact and 2 rax are not cheese builds btw. If thats the case, then going Reaver in PvT is cheese and going 2 hatch in ZvT is cheese.

I cannot comment on 2-rax, but I would agree that 2-fact is not a cheese. It really comes down the definition of cheese, but 2-fact builds rely a lot on the micro of both players. I think cheese builds are when you do a build that leaves a large factor of the result up to total chance, like a coin-flip. Either this works because of this, or it fails because of that.
Four gate goon PvP for example I would say is a cheese, because if they didn't DT, you have a really good shot of winning based on little skill, however if they went DT, you are pretty much fucked.

I agree Salv. Its not like I've been proxi factory/barracks or bunker rush (which is more or less cheese).
