I don't really care, it's not THAT much farther of a drive. If it's the same price, obviously I'd prefer rockville, but if it's a lot cheaper to go to the VA place, go there.

Alright I sent Seoul PC an email regarding the LAN and hopefully I will get a reply soon so we can check which will be the better center to go to. Based on our current poll results, it seems our LAN we most likely be on
- July 11th, Saturday
- July 18th, Saturday
and probably in the afternoon - evening (we can get lunch, dinner, or both).
I accidently emailed them saying July 4th as a potential date as well, but I think most people will be celebrating

I'm down for LAN @ Seoul PC. I live in Chantilly its a pretty close drive from my house.

Seoul PC would be better for the Virgina boys but I'd be down for either. I would NOT recommend doing this shindig on July 4th as other people (myself included) most likely have other plans/parties/events. Not to mention extra traffic in and around DC for the hundreds of thousands who go to the fireworks @ the Mall in downtown DC.

Yeah, definitely do not do this for the 4th. I would attend the 11th but defnitely not the 18th (too close to wedding).

Yeah I think I will be going to the fireworks then too... if anyone else is going you should tell me! Seems like most people seem down for Seoul PC too, which is pretty nice Already have 23 people or so who have replied to this thread saying they will probably go, which is a great number already even with no date xD

I'm going to a BBQ on the 4th... but I'm definitely up for the 11th. Let's do this, I'm so pumped.

They haven't yet responded to my email. Anyone with a phone and willing to call (if you're Korean, I compel you to call!!!)? I'll be getting my phone back later tonight so I can do it then, but if anyone has some extra time...
Here's some pointers if you're going to call (this is the email I sent).
Hi, I am a member at the Starcraft forum http://www.teamliquid.net . I am writing this concerning your PC Gaming Center at Seoul Plaza 2F #222 4231 Markham St #222 Annandale, VA 22003 We have been trying to organize a LAN event in the Maryland / Northern Virginia area, and one of the centers we are looking at is Seoul PC. We should have between 10-25 people attending, and once we confirm a date we will be able to finalize how many attendees there will be. One of our questions was wondering what the rates are for the LAN PC Center. Also, we will need to know if mouses/mousepads are provided and if Starcraft: Broodwar is installed on the computers. As a Seoul PC center I think Starcraft should be on the computers, right? Also it would be nice if you could tell us how many total computers there are so we can plan accordingly if we come. You can check where we are organizing this event here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=95541 . We are hoping to have this event in early - mid July on a Saturday (ideally 7/4, 7/11 or 7/18). Lastly, seeing as how our event may span the course of several hours, could you tell us what nearby restaurants there are in the area? I've heard that there is a nice Korean BBQ restaurant in the area. Thanks in advance, Conan (Superiorwolf) on behalf of Teamliquid.net

Hey, it's been a while since I checked this thread sorry...

The place I'm staying out would work if we could get some kind of LAN connection (would hamachi work?) and that would be cool, because the internet is a little so I don't think that'll be the best to use.
I'm getting here next sunday and starting work on the 29th...I'll PM you my contact info.

They might not be getting back to you since business hours haven't begun yet. I think it's fair to wait till Monday to follow up with a call.

I can't make the 11th (wedding to go to), but it seems like most people are aiming for that one. If so, have fun!
I'll be with you in spirit. :p

Ok - I still haven't gotten a reply yet but hopefully I will get one on Monday because that's the first business day. If I don't get an email we should get someone to call, which I will do but I would prefer if someone who can speak Korean Anyone here speak Korean?
I've been asking the organizer (one of my friends) of the Markham LAN in Canada for advice on what to do - they had lunch before the event (7 people attended) and then went all the way until about 11. In that time they had a 2 hour dinner at some pretty fancy restaurant as well. I don't think that many people will be that into going to lunch before the event, but since most LANs don't include dinners I still think it would be nice for this LAN to have a dinner you can attend if you'd like. We could reserve/book some restaurant in the area if it's pretty good one, or we could just go to some regular restaurant or even fast food if you guys would rather do that or don't have the money
If we decide to hold a tournament, it will hopefully be double elimination if everyone shows up on time and we have enough time to complete it. I would be willing to dish out just a few bucks for the 1st place, maybe $15 or so, but not much
July 11th looks to probably be our most likely date, but July 18th is still definitely viable.

i can go there tomorrow if need be and talk to them in person

Wow so many NIH people. Where does everyone work? Im building 37. As I told Superiorwolf, I play with another IRTA and he knows a bunch of other Starcraft people who were lookign to set up some lan thing. Maybe we can combine these two groups.
|
I'd be up for any sort of meals. For tournaments, usually what I see in the Melee scene is a buy-in of something small like $5, which goes to a pot that's divided among the top placers at the organizer's discretion. I think something like that could work here, though I dunno if everyone would be up for that. Jeez, so many Starcraft players in the area. This shit is going to be too good.

can't wait very excited to play some games and meet every one.
