So tomorrow I will leave for the exciting city of Birmingham, Alabama. I would never, under normal circumstances, submit myself to the heat of the south in the summer, but the National Forensics League didn't consult me when they were deciding on a location for their national tournament. I am competing in the House of Representatives for student congress, and it is my first time making nationals, for any event. Truth be told, Congress would not be my first choice to make it in (I usually do Lincoln-Douglas debate) but in my state Congress is sort of the "consolation event". If you don't make it in your own event you go in Congress. And even in this event of the Second Placers, I didn't qualify straight out. I was an alternate, who got lucky that the person in front of them got drunk at prom. But still, I am going, and I am the first to go to nationals from my school since 2002, since were typically weak in forensics, so it is still very satisfying. I prepared a moderate amount, but did not kill myself in doing so, and am hoping that I can do all right. My friend was seventh in the nation last year in the same event and he helped me out, but I doubt I'll do half as well as he did. (I'm only a junior, and to be honest he's just smarter and a better debater than I am) Anyways I'm very excited, and will admit that this is half a brag blog, because I am so excited.
About my apm blog, which so many of you said was a thinly veiled brag post, I'm 99.9% positive that my computer WAS somehow saving replays wrong and my APM is about 20-30 lower than it was recording. I don't know why it was, and perhaps still is reading wrongly, but here are some things about my computer in case anyone can tell me.
-It is new (well actually old, but mostly unused) but we transferred our old filesto it. For one reason or another no replays made it over.
-When I try to search for replays through the actual computer none of the ones I saved from this computer come up. Instead there are the ones I saved on the old computer. However in game, and on BWchart and repdepo, only the ones I have saved while playing on this computer appear. I do not know why this is so.
Those are the reasons I think my computer is whack, and possibly messing up reading APM.

As soon as I read the 1st sentence I wondered if you were going to NFLs. I'm a policy debater. Good luck.

Birmingham sucks, and so does Alabama. Unless you're going there to watch a Crimson Tide football game, stay away from Alabama.
On the other hand, good luck, and don't fret about the weather. It only gets to about 95 degrees in the summer time. Maybe 100.

Thank you. Don't worry Roffles I don't plan on vacationing there. Only 95? Hmmm better than I expected, still hotter than the midwest. Is it humid? Edit: Lys can you speed talk??

oh i thought this was going to be some sort of metaphor about how increasing your apm affects life in general.

I debate in MN as well as on the national circuit and everyone speaks quickly in both policy and LD.

Ahh, good times. Did CX in high school, but I couldn't cut it in CEDA for college. GL at NFL's though, even if it's just mock congress.
