Me and my friends kind of cycle through games. First it was Doom, then starcraft, then diablo 2, dawn of war, etc.
They want to play starcraft again. They know that I'm 'super good' (I can't make it to D+), so it should say something about their skill level.
We want to do a 3v1, but even with their skill level, I think i'll lose, because of the economy of 3 bases to the economy of 1 is very disadvantageous.
What map would you recommend this game be played on to help me stand a chance?
edit: no fastest map, money map, or anything like that. It needs to be a straight up map.

how about that old 2v2 map called iron curtain or something? you could take out 1 guy pretty fast then do 1v2
|
I guess a macro based map would favour you, a good way to get a head is to out-macro them rather than put your one base against their three. Something like Andromeda or Colosseum II?

I remember a famous game where a protoss player had a DA in a shuttle moving it to the other side, and a terran player was following it with a dropship, but the shuttle dropped the da and it mind controlled the dropship. Was that iron curtain? I think it, too, was a desert tileset

doesn't matter, people who have just started playing starcraft don't know how to spend their minerals. at 15 minutes you can be maxed out and roll them(any D level player should be able to do this).
Use some awesome macro based map like Andro where you can take 3 bases and an island

God's Garden might work, easy 3 gas, one choke (I doubt they will drop, take high ground etc.) 200/200 BCs or Carriers, gg

as long as they don't know BOs, you're fine they'll probably go like gate (supply block) forge 3x cannon (another supply block) so just play super greedy and then roll them (yes, you should be able to out-macro 3 complete noobs) they won't be able to macro decently or keep up worker production too just make sure there's like a no rush stipulation or something i recently played a 1v2 with two noobs and it was like playing a D/D- rank player
|
LT? Be Terran and turtle like a mofo using dropship play to harass the fuck out of them. Noobs either build a whole fuckload of cannons surround their base or none at all usually.
|
I agree with the people who said macro maps with easy 3 bases are the best for this. Andromeda and Arcadia would be my picks of choice since they also have air expos unlike more modern maps like Colosseum and God's Garden.

What race do you play?
You could also force them to play a gay map they have no idea of how to play (like Troy), but I can't think of any specific strat right now Well, assuming your macro is good, you could straight up out-macro them...
|
Troy? Kill your assimilators, take the semi-island, and start out with massive dropship harassment. Storm dropping, tank drops, anything with quick and easy damage versus anyone who can't react fast enough. Try to find a way to take complete advantage of their inability to respond properly or quickly to the attack. As I said, reavers or storm drops, vultures with mines and tanks, lurkers and ling snipes (hit their main building with 24 lings focusing).

Anything except Blood Bath

On troy you could probably lock one or two guys in before they even realise what you are doing. They will then proceed to tech to dropships/shuttles very slowly while you kill the guy you didnt block in. Then just mass expo and rape.

Best for 3v1 would probably be: Colliseum God's Garden Andromeda Iron Curtain Zodiac
I wouldn't suggest island maps though because this will allow them to freely tech up faster. And you don't want them to tech for free. You want them to play their standard slow crappy style and have weaker units.
I would probably use some blizzard maps with more than 4 start locations too, like: Predators Chain Lightning Meat Grinder Hunters
If they suck at scouting you can get some free bases up.
Any maps where you can abuse the terrain would be good as well. So like if you chose terran on (6)winter conquest for example.

Just play on andro. Go terran or zerg and bunk/lurk down. Their armies will melt into your wall. Then, proceed to take the island maps and finally, push with a 3/3 I do 1 v 3s with my nub friends and as long as they dont know build orders, they will be slow in their tech and unit production.

Hahahaha well we played some games...
On game one, andromeda, they worker rushed me.... AND FAILED. It was like 12 workers vs. 9 probes. I held it off easily, tried to do a forge fe (they were p, z, and t), but the worker rush through me off, and i lost because i am an inexperienced D player. I should have won.
Game 2, they did the same thing, same map. They won this time.
Game 3 on bgh. This one was really fun. I spawned at top left, and T spawned at top mid. I didnt want to kill him really fast (cuz we're friends rite?), like rush, but I went 2gate to be safe from the others. I attacked him to keep him on the defensive, but then they ran by with goons and zerglings, killed my expo. luckily, it was bgh, and i could have 5 gates pumping out units at this point, and pushed their lurker contain off with reavers and zeals and goons. I used DTs to kill the T tanks, then killed him. By this point, i had 180/200, attacked the P, who was spamming carriers, easily taken out by about 5 storms and a few goons. Then i Killed Z. This is the game I wanted.
Then they left. Was fun. Thanks for the advice.
