Hey guys, I kinda of need your help on this it's not HW just something that comes up in the family every once in a while due my family being quite large and having a lot of relatives. I built a family tree a while back with 300+ names going back to 3x-great grandparents. But I was wondering if someone could give me the correct "relationship" titles in English for the following.
A1 and A2 get married their kids are B1 and B2. C1 and C2 are first cousins. I think D1 and D2 are third cousins if I read the wiki thing right, but not sure. My question is what's the relationship between:
D1 & C2 D1 & D2 E1 & C2 E1 & D2
Ignore the squares and "X"'s besides them that's just to show the spouse. Thanks for any help.

I believe D1 and C2 are second cousins.
D1 and D2 should be third cousins.

remember, fourth cousins are about as closely related as two random strangers, so it's okay to sleep with one

Haha, what's the actual line between that? 2nd or 3rd?
I just read a previous blog of yours, does this have anything to do?

I've actually read things online a couple of times prior to posting this, but have conflicting info. But D1 is my mom and calls C2 her "aunt" which I'm pretty sure is her 3rd cousin. She calls her, her aunt b/c she's a generation higher. C2's children used to call me their "nephew" to try to get me mad, but now we just call each other cousins. Funny thing is I'm older than 3 out of 5 of them. Youngest being 11 and oldest 23.
I know that paragraph alone is confusing as hell to follow, but that's not even the worst kinda of stuff in my family. I also have some sort of uncle/cousin because my grandfather's niece married my grandmothers brother both on my mom's side (they're about the same age). And yet another interesting one is my dad's uncle marrying my moms aunt which messes things up even more. There are a lot more things like this on my family tree, but I think you get the general idea.
I know my great/grand parents on my mom's and dad's side grew up in a really small town in like the middle of know where Mexico, but they didn't have to marry each others family it just makes things confusing as hell when introducing people.
PS: And no I don't have an incest family (or at least haven't found an incident of it) just people marrying the inlaws which produces normal babies instead of babies with three heads and 13 fingers so its ok.

No, if your referring to the girl one.
If I marry I'm probably marrying someone that isn't Spanish just for this reason.

Second CousinYour second cousins are the people in your family who have the same great-grandparents as you., but not the same grandparents. Third, Fourth, and Fifth CousinsYour third cousins have the same great-great-grandparents, fourth cousins have the same great-great-great-grandparents, and so on. http://www.genealogy.com/16_cousn.html
Does this matter or are they still 2nd/3rd cousins?

Honestly the explanation confused me. I'm just going by how my family works...

I prefer just sticking to the names 2nd cousin, 3rd cousin, etc. Because once you start getting into stuff like "2nd cousin once removed" or similar titles it just gets too confusing.
Thankfully I don't have to remember any of that, with my family we just consider any relative who's substantially older than you as your uncle/aunt, any relative that's around your age is your cousin, and any relative who's substantially younger than you is your niece/nephew.
Grandparents and parents are easy enough to figure out.
Also, 2nd cousin is actually the closest you can have a child with without any negative effects to the gene pool. Although in reality any form of incest isn't likely to cause genetic defects unless the family's been inbreeding over around 2-3 generations or so.
