for example currently I'm paying $1000/month (split between 3 people) for a house (almost 1000 sq ft). are the housing costs similar?

BTW, how hard was the State dept. internship? Which department did you apply for? I'm thinking of doing a Fall internship after I graduate, since I think it's a lot easier to get than Summer/Spring internships.

I can't say relative to what you're paying now, but I suspect your best option is to take advantage of the train system. BTW, how hard was the State dept. internship? I'm thinking of doing a Fall internship after I graduate, since I think it's a lot easier to get than Summer/Spring internships. it's a program through school (UCDC for anyone whos from the UC system and knows of it).. it's basically where they send 15-20 kids per quarter to intern somewhere in DC, so i'll be going to the state dept... not entirely sure about the details yet, I should know for sure in the next month or two.

But maybe in Dupont Circle there's probably a few places where you can rent. If you're ok being in the part of DC where there are a bunch of gays/lesbians. But on the bright side, they have some amazing food there.

Hey, can you tell me more about the program? I'm transferring to a UC next semester and working in DC would be awesome. Good luck in your internship, it sounds fascinating =).

I think it's changed within the past 5 years, but for a while the poorest school in the country was the one closest to the Capitol building. no travis is wrong southeast DC is very poor, NW DC is very rich, the rest of it is becoming gentrified

And Dupont Circle is one of the safest places in DC. This is why I told him about it. If I were to move somewhere, I'd definitely want to be in a safe area. It's not like i told him to move to south east...

I know UCSD, LA, and Berkeley I believe have it but am not sure about the others. i know there's a few apartments right next to the franconia metro station in virginia, dunno how much they go for though.
