I just bought a brand new Acer Predator, fully loaded with everything you could ever ask for, except a wireless router. I am not very techy, in general that is why I decided to buy a computer fully loaded and not upgrade and build it myself.
The specs the acer representative showed had the computer as having wireless LAN already installed in it, which after fucking around on my part for about 6 hours, proved that it did not have wireless LAN installed. So I then decided to install my own (My first thing I have ever tried to install myself!!!). So i started to do some research, to bad that every time your try to type something into google, it just comes up with a fucking review of how fucking great the computer is.
So I decided to ask for help by getting into contact with the technical support at Acer. Unfortunately they have no technical support phone number, and there technical support is purely based on email. I keep my cool and decide to send an email asking for help, after waiting for three days I decide that I will just take my best shot by a wireless network card install it and hope to fucking god it works.
I don't think that god heard, because I could not for the fucking life of me figure out what the hell to do. I continued trying to do research myself, and eventually I just went to Best Buy bought a router for a 32-bit PCI slot (even tho my computer is 64-bit), I figured that maybe some of the PCI slots were for 32-bit. So I looked up too see if any of the PCI slots were 32-bit on trusty google, and since the computer is so fucking grea you cant find dick all information, on things you may need to know if YOU FUCKING OWNED ONE.
Alright fuck this shit I will just install it and hope it fucking works who gives a fucking shit I am passed the point of caring. I look at the instruction booklet for how to install the PCI card. Which basically says....
1. Turn off and unplug computer 2. Press the release button that is opposite the expansion slot. (ITS TOOLESS YAY) 3. INSTALL!
It goes into so much fucking detail on how to turn off the computer and unplug it, and is completely lacking on step two. First off, What The FUCK, is the release button!!! Press it???? IT is physically impossible to press that "release button", because there is a steel bar preventing it. The actual instruction should have been..
2. Contemplate what the fuck the above phrase means for five minutes, then assume that the blue hinge like bar beside the expansion slot, is the release button because it is impossible for anything else to be. Then press the release button, which does nothing FYI, then try to figure out what the fuck they mean when they say "press" get out a hammer try to "press" the button. Give up, and then remove the fucking side panel, which is a massive pain in the cock because there is an annoying (but nice looking) arm in the way. Then jam out the metal cover blocking you from the expansion slot, using a screw driver.
I finally jam that sucker in, and turn on the computer, and all I hear is BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEP. Wtf, I am taking it back to where I got it and telling them to install the dam wireless shit themselves or I want my money back. I am tired of fucking around with that.

That sucks... I bought an Acer laptop in January and it has been working great so far. Why didn't you build your own computer? I know that you're not very techy, but you could have ask some of your friends for help if they knew how to build one.

Don't people only build desktops?

According to Acer's website, wireless LAN is listed as optional, so perhaps you didn't actually upgrade to include wireless LAN

I think he meant as opposed to building laptops, not meaning that they only way to get a desktop is to build one -_-;
But laptops don't have PCI Express, so you both suck at reading.

If your not up to speed with this stuff its freaking hard and time consuming to build a computer..I tried to install a new sound card and ended up getting a New Computer.
Its just to much easier and quicker to order a prebuilt one with a warranty and nothing to worry about.

Yes, I was just comparing my laptop to his desktop.

I can't even contemplate being unable to open the damn case up and look and see with my own two eyes if there are PCI slots available or just PCI-express or whatever D:
I'm always amazed people pay me to do shit like that. Maybe I shouldn't be. I'm sure car guys say that when I'm all "change my oil plz hurr"

Building a PC yourself really isn't hard. I built my first PC when I was like 15 or 16 with a little help of a friend (who knew a little more about computers than me). Since then I've built like 3 or 4 PCs all on my own, so I'm really not a great expert with loads of experience, and I never had any problem whatsoever.
There are plenty of good guides on the net and even the mainboard manuals are usually pretty decent. If you really are too scared to build one yourself ask someone (you must know someone who can show you) to assist you and you'll never need any help in the future.
Dunno the specs of your PC, but I can pretty much guarantee you that you're not getting enough for your bucks. Try to give it back, buy parts, build one yourself (maybe with a little help, hell even paying someone you know 50 bucks to help you select & build is better than buying a complete pc).

U don't need to spend anywhere near that to play any of the current games...and whatever is coming out in the near future...but ok. I'd stick with a well known established company. Obv Acer is shitty...they dont even have a customer service # like u stated.
This is what i got a few weeks ago...except it was on sale for $500...plays everything I have...and runs perfect. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=9999107800050007&type=product&id=pcmprd107700050007
people that spend boat loads on a PC for stuff they will never need...and use the the fullest..make me laugh.

Installing a fucking PCI card is almost as easy as turning on a computer.

You don't need to build your own computer, but if you dont you should buy from a hardware vendor that will assemble it on your behalf. In Canada, ncix.com will assemble the parts you choose for $50 CAD. It will be cheaper than buying from Acer, you won't be bogged down with their shitty software etc (you can buy without an OS if you want) etc. You can also price check to places like newegg.ca
In my opinion you should return it and order from ncix
