Edit: Thanks to -orb- for pointing out the mix-up; it should be fixed now
:D Don't know if this works for P or Z though
BTW, just tested this in a real game; I spawned at 9:00, split to the rich minerals, got the slow minerals last:
9 depot (no wallin) 11 rax 12 gas 14 scout 15 depot 16 marine (!) 17 factory (at exactly 100 gas)
Normally I have to wait on the factory for ~5 seconds if I build a marine (and sometimes more if I 11/12)
I don't know what happens with buildings to speed up mining; anyone want to test it? Here's the map I used: [url blocked] http://rapidshare.com/files/154168715/mining_speed.scx.html
Basically, split all the SCVs first, then use the marine to hit the beacon. The minerals don't start going down until the marine hits the beacon. Wait 20 minutes, come back, and note the # of minerals on each patch in the replay (final values are +- 8 minerals)
BTW, TLPD is using Python 1.1 :[ I used the wrong picture at first ~_~

And this is why to this day Starcraft remains the #1 competitive RTS!
Seriously though, pretty cool, I'll use it.

That's really awesome to know. I was wondering if anyone was ever going to go over statistics of what mines fastest and which minerals are the best to split to
Edit: whoa some of these seem really weird. Am I reading these right?
Example: 6:00. According to your stats, for the 4 mineral clumps in the middle that are right to the left of the starting location, the farther mineral blocks mine faster???
I think maybe that has something to do with the weird way that terran scvs decelerate. You should test this same thing with probes and drones and compare the results. I think it'd be really interesting.

Indeed. I was under the impression that it is recommended to split to the four patches in the center of the line for best mining, as they are the closest to your CC. . .

What you see is not what you get in SC. Gas mines faster top or left as opposed to right or bottom, goliaths can fit through tiny holes, etc.

this is crazy i cant believe this!? the good patches at 9 are usually the ones i 'occupy' last.
nice testing anyway, someone should do it for Z as with fewer moners than T or P it will impact them much more.

what do u mean with ur 9 depot and 9/10 (8 scvs out 1 queued) depot or 9 scvs out, depot
|
You gotta take into consideration that workers spawn at the bottom of your screen. This fact makes it uneconomical to split the first 4 workers to the farthest patch at 9:00. But the 5th scv might as well be sent there.

its when your supply count in the top right reads 9/10, so yes its 8 scvs built one building.

Yes, but the title of the thread includes the word splits, which is somewhat misguiding.

I wonder why that dude never eats. (Doesn't take supply) D:
Awesome find by the way OP, I will look into it o.o

Some mineral patches differ in their related workers pathing if you mine them from different positions. I've been studying this matter since I started playing sc and I think it gives me a very nice advantage at the start

I'm glad you did this, it will come in handy. I always had a suspicion about that topmost mineral field at 9:00 base

I just noticed recently after I've had the game for years..
