I don't think it was intended to be a full feature game? It's just like a side game that I got in my Orange box...

How could that take 3-5 hours? Also, why is this such a well liked game when this exact thing was in Prey, but Prey actually had a story line and hours of gameplay and was an FPS, yet no one raves about it? Portal is a real game. It has a story and is probably the funniest game ever made (at least that I've played). The story is that you're a test subject in the aperture science facility and you are testing their portal gun and you go through several puzzles, and then there's even more after that (dont really want to spoil, but it gets really awesome the last half). It may be short but is part of a much bigger package or by itself is pretty cheap (i think $20?). And what's great is that the length is perfect for the style of game, because if it was any longer it probably would of started to feel redundant, no part of the game feels recycled at all. And Prey kind of had portal stuff but it wasn't really any new sort of mechanic, it's portals were really just fancy doors. No real interesting gameplay mechanics came out of it. And Prey pretty much sucked btw. The 2 games are way different.
