Nah, there is space. I imagine that cannon actually can hit the gas with the diagonal? And if not he can build another to hit both the top mineral(s) and gas. Then there would be 0 tech for Rush and you can build cans at home to defend vs a counter, so it's better than 2 gate.
The cannon can't hit. The cannon's 2 range out. the cannon's there to establish the position for the next cannon, which will hit top mineral and gas. ps: I did not place the next cannons where motive would, just to demonstrate the range.
Thanks for checking! Too bad we couldn't see the scenario play out out as planned. Although then we wouldn't have all this entertainment ^^

First of all what does Rain know about cheese? lol Come on now. That's just a typical League player boasting. Secondly, even funnier: he is wrong, because there were 8 workers already when the probe reached the base, not 7. But let's say there were 7 workers, then Motive should have checked 3 mineral fields to get 100% confirmation, not 2.
Finally if Rain actually already knew all that, he would have said it as the observer was showing 1500 minerals. Not only is Rain overrated, he also acts overrated
Come on, are you serious ? I get that Rain is over-rated, and i totally agree. But blame the translation or may be he did not express clearly, but saying that Rain doesnt understand what was going on is completely ridiculous.
For simplicity sake I trust the translation is correct. It's possible Rain misspoke of course. I'm just making some fun of him. However it doesn't mean what Rain said isn't wrong tho.

I guess Rain misspoke about the 7 workers thing but Rain does know some stuff about cheese. He did the same thing against Last in Season 7 of ASL on a 3-player map except without a forge.
The video starts at the beginning of the Rain vs Last "cheese" game.

You feel bad for the guy because this must feel awful, but at the same time it's just a straight up mistake from him, plus it was a cheese attempt anyway, but also it would have been a good one, properly planned and everything, but his planning did not account for this. Additionally to all that, it's hard not to laugh about it because it's just funny. Plus it's such a random subtle thing to happen. So many conflicting feelings about this as an onwatcher. Solid gold.
I find hard to believe that if the top mineral is better for mining, Rush wouldn't use it from the start. Also pros mention that Motive should have checked two minerals patches, but can you really pull that off without being spotted? I doubt it.
It was extremely risky to rely on one mineral patch to determine your opponent's position. He paid for it, and gave us a hilarious game.
It seems to me that the only safe approach is to keep looking at individual patches until you see one that isn't full anymore. That may involve looking at a single patch for some prolonged amount of time or looking at mulitple ones. If for some reason you can't do that without being spotted, then don't do the cheese.
What I don't get, if you think that he is at three o clock it, it doesn't cost anything to keep checking patches in the bottom base. There is no chance of your probe being seen.

You're fighting an uphill battle economically, so you want the probe to go home asap to go gather. The cost is your cheese being weaker and/or your transition out of it.

Plus scouting SCV will come out. and if the timing of your probe being there does not match with what the possible timings should be, or if its just standing there going back and forth you're giving off the impression something odd is happening.

@Peeano Did you watch the video above? Rain double confirm on the empty base. Takes less than 1 sec 2 clicks.
@RJBTVYOUTUBE Unless Rush 8rax into scout, there is 0 chance will be seen.
Dont forget it's Motive's first ASL possible first time in this type of big stage.
This was amazing, thank you for putting together this amazing piece of content !
Hahaha had to watch again, it’s so fun watching Mind hype up this build, saying he helped him optimize it and everything, and then is like “you dumb fuck” :D

I find it even more hard to believe people didn't test the speed at which it mines
I got 65.5 minerals/min which makes it a bad mineral to mine, but actually not the worst

#9, #3 are worse at about 65 #2 is 64 #4 is 62.5
exactly. Rush should have been mining it because its better than 4 other patches.
